I got to go a little earlier for surgery on 8-20 Everything went pretty much as planned and I as of now am feeling rather good. I was just wondering hows people dealing with the food issues and entering into mush, soft foods? Has it gone as you wanted it? Also any regret or postive points for you? CHatty

Hi Cathy! I was on 8/16. I have had no trouble so far with anything! No nausea, no vomiting. I haven't really had any food issues as far as wanting to eat just to eat, but I have had the issues of can't stand drinking ANYMORE! ARGH! It gets old really fast. I actually have started adding a few solid things in, but chewing it till it really doesn't exist. Not necessarily what I should be doing, but I think I would really go nuts if I didn't. I haven't had any trouble with the solid foods I've tried. I've tried low fat cheese, egg beaters, even tried chicken and mashed potatoes last night. I'm not going to make it an every day habit, but it helps. The only thing that I have problems with right now is constipation, and let me tell you, I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life. It is more painful than the surgery was. I have no regrets as of yet, I have lost 22.6 lbs in 17 days and so far I'm feeling great! Good Luck with your weight loss! JUDY

thanks Judy! Have you called your doc about your constipation? Its a problem many have after wls. They can tell whats best to take to help you out of that. 22.6lbs gone, thats wonderful! Today is said to be my first day of soft foods. I am sure to enjoy it, jello, broth just isn't life anymore. I have no idea about the weight loss for me being I have no scale which I think I will keep it that way. NO WAY do I want to be a scale Ho! GOOD luck Chatty Tina

Hi Chatty Tina, My surgery was on 8-23 and I had open RNY. Doing just great the only problem I think is sleeping, I am a belly sleeper so its been real hard to get comffy. I am on pureed foods now which opens the door to alot of other foods. Had baked potatoe (2 1/2 oz) with nacho cheese on it plus sprinkled the potein pwd. Very Good. 14 days since the Dr. had weighed me and I have lost 23 pounds. Wow I was surprised. But I do agree with you I dont have a scales here and dont plan to buy one any time soon. Good Luck on you losing journey! Becky

I had Lap RNY on 8/12. I am feeling really good. This past weekend was rough. I was just over two weeks out and had started soft foods. I ate some natural peanut butter that started this ball rolling...it made me feel very nauseated, which made me not want to eat, which made me feel more nauseated, which made me not want to eat...you get the picture. I know we have to eat to make this tool work, and that's sometimes tough. By the end of the weekend I hadn't gotten in enough food to give me any strength. I've eaten better this week, some things that I hadn't planned on eating (some flat-crust pizza, some Chinese dumplings) just to get some food in me. It's made a big difference in how I feel. And now I feel like I can go back to what I tried to do when I first started soft foods, and that is to get in more protein, etc. I am doing OK on my water, thank goodness. I am now at three weeks and 19 lbs. I look forward to hearing how everyone else is doing. I posted on 8/30 and it's titled "Does food gross you out?" or something like that. If you haven't read it, it gives an overview of how yucky I was feeling. And I learned from this board and from the Texas one that it's very very normal. And of course that made me feel better! The responses were great and worth a read if you're feeling a little iffy. Take care and good luck, Kathryn

I had surgery on the 18th. I am feeling well also. I can't wait to get off liquids. I am really getting sick of them. I am having a little trouble sleeping but I slept in my bed for the first time last night. I don't have any regrets except maybe I should have done this sooner.

hey all! my surgery was on 8/11, and i just got to go to "pureed foods" yesterday. i don't get to go to soft foods until 8/13 or something like that. that seems a long time to me. does anyone else think so? i'm 3 weeks post-op and down about 28 or 30 pounds, i think. i've kinda been cheating as far as food goes though. i just can't handle any more soups or popsicles!!! avocados are great, i've been having a lot of guacamole and beans w/ melted cheese. and advice? let me know!

Hi Chatty Tina, I am only 4 days post op and will be on puree food for the next 2 weeks. So far so good with that. Haven't ran into vomiting or nausea yet. I do not regret the surgery and I just can't wait to see results. --Marianne

Glad to hear that you are home and feeling good. The food part has gone pretty good, so far only thing that rebelled was fish. The soft foods aren't too bad but I dont bother pureeing anything in the blender. Patty
