Hi Gwen, I too am just a few days post-op. I am up walking and trying to do a few things around the house but when the body says "Whoa girl" then it's time to sleep or lie quietly, chill, and rest. I know from being post-op open cholecystectomy (gall bladder) as well as my experience as a surgical nurse, energy returns s-l-o-w-l-y! There is a balance between getting out and moving about and resting. Too much in either direction and optimal healing just can't happen. Be patient. Discouragement is your enemy as much as doing too much or not taking deep breaths. Heal well! Sue

Thanks Sue for your words of encouragment! I'm one of those that just have to say 'NO, I can't do it right now...' and move on... I am walking and my gas is moving alone slowly. When I standup my breathing is disrupted a little and I start breathing hard for about 2 minutes. I placed a call to me doc. I am consistenly using the bathroom both ways, but it is just part of the equation... Other than that, I am FINE and proud to have take a stand for myself... Please keep in touch! Gwen

Hi Gwen, We had surgery on the same day and I have been doing something around the house then resting. I showered today and that was a chore. How is your water intake coming along? I am having trouble getting it all in. In due time I'm sure. We can do this! Good Luck and keep me posted. --Marianne

I showered yesterday or better yet this morning around 3pm. My water intake is going well because I go really really really s...l...o...w! I'm having some problems getting it in too.. but I keep trying per my doc directions! I was having a breathing problem and Tera/Dr E. called me and explained the situation, so I will work through the next few days.... Sleeping is another issue, 30 minutes here, 1 hr there, and etc... I will NOT give up.. I have a 10 year old looking at me and my mother is the Greatest, so I have to push on............... -gwen

Carol, I truly understand the situation regarding the bed because we have a nice california king bed pillow top and I can't enjoy it at all. One day, again.... But i'm walking, moving, drinking water and taking my vitamins to support my iron levels and protein intake required. Glad your surgery went well too...! I just can't get more than 30minutes to 1 hour of steady sleep time right now. I know it will get better, I hope.... I've read it gets better in time.... -keep in touch.. gwen

At that stage I was very tired too often and I took naps when I needed them. You will find your energy will be back up before too long. I am just at the stage now where I dont need to nap during the day. Patty
