I am 1 week post op today. Had my surgery on 8/25/04. I am feeling great. I can't believe it. Other than soreness in my belly, everything else is fine. I am having a little trouble getting in all the protein and the water that my doctor recommends, but still trying. So far, the hardest part is at dinnertime for my family. The food smells so good. That is the only time I have a very slight regret. Even foods that I didn't care for looks good. I have lost 10 lbs since the day of my surgery. Thanks to everyone for there prayers and good wishes.

Yes, you're story sounds like mine at one-week post-op. I'm 2+ weeks post-op now and have actually tried one or two foods that haven't agreed with me. That feeling is so terrible that it keeps me in line with the suggested post-op diet! My husband (a wonderful cook) made sausage and bacon one day for the kids and I about flipped out! The smell was wonderful! But, of course I didn't try any. I haven't tried other good things that he's made either, but he did bake some chicken legs last night and gave me a tiny bite. I was still reeling from the bad egg-cheese dish I ate at dinner, so I didn't have much of an appetite for it. Just try to think of the smell of food as a whole new sensory experience. You can enjoy it for what it is----an pleasant odor and not worry about acting on your impulse to eat whatever you're smelling. I never noticed it before the surgery, but I really do love the smell of food! I love the taste too....but since WLS, I've not had any desire to eat much more than a bite or two....that new stomach pouch isn't nearly as big as my eyes! LOL----Good luck! Hang in there.....just keep walking or doing whatever exercise you're doing. That's going to be my biggest challenge yet! LH Alabama

Glad to hear that you are doing well. The head hunger is probably the hardest part to get over. Everything smells so good and the commercials on tv are hard to resist. It does get alot easier though once you start regular foods. Good luck Patty

Hey Rhonda, I think we are in the same boat. We had surgery on the same day. So, I know how you feel. It has been hard at dinner for me to. I am so glad that you are doing well. Welcome to the Losers side! Morningjoy from Va
