Hi Janie,
My doc has his patients on liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. This makes the surgery much easier since it shrinks the size of the liver which gets retracted if you have lap. The day before I was on clear liquids but mostly drank lots of water. The cleaner the intestine the better off you will be. I hope this helps, I'll keep you in my prayers.
Blessings
Deanna
My surgeon had no requirements the day or week before my surgery except not to eat anything after midnight.
He did suggest to stay away from greasey stuff the couple days before but that was it.
I had my last big meal on Saturday night, Sunday Mon and the Tues (night before) I ate, but not anything greassey or heavey.
On the tues, I think I had some light chicken early and the rest of the day lots of liquids and granola.
My biggest concern personally was having to use a bedpan or having an accident on myself. So i went with light stuff. Luckily, I went that morning and I didn't go again until I got home from the hospital.
Just remember, what goes in must come out!
