I am eating jello, juice and drinking my chicken broth. I am however tired of going to the bathroom every 2 hours. I want to try chinese wonton soup or egg drop soup. I guess I want some substance. what about yogurt?

I am surprised that you still have to be on clear liquids. My dr. only had me on them for two days after surgery then 3 weeks of full fluids. I am sure a little yogurt wouldn't hurt. I was eating yogurt three days out. My first day home I bought a wonton soup and just ate the broth. It used to be my fav soup. Since the surgery it tastes weird to me now. The soups just taste really salty to me too. Its funny how your tastes change after surgery. Patty

I personally was only on liquids the next day after surgery. They actually wanted me to eat nasty hospital scrambled eggs before I went home. I would say as long as you are sticking with SOFT MOIST PROTEIN you should be fine. Try some of the Carb Countdown yougurt and Smoothies. They have hardly any sugar, and added protein. Also try some cottage cheese (low fat obviously) and some tuna from the can. (make sure it was canned in water and not in oil). My dietician gave me a nice shopping list of foods we can have for the first 6 weeks. I am definitely NOT on a liquid diet. However, I had the RNY Gastric Bypass. If you had something different, your eating regiment would be different. Leland Lap RNY 08/04/04 283/250.5/150

Hi...I am nwee post-op 5 days and my Dr has me on full liguids for the next 9 days...if you want yogurt i found that if you take the carb solution yougurt and add some milk to it so it is thin enough to sip through a straw it makes a good fruit smoothie and the milk gives you some added protien. i mix it in a glas with a hand blender. hope this helps. Did your Dr or dietician not give you a plan to follow? They all have different ways to handle the diet, some are more cautious than others, if in doubt I would call and ask the nurse or dietician. Hi Lynn, I had my open RNY on the 23rd also and was on liquids for 2 days. I am eating yogurt, pudding, jello, smoothies, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, drinking water and crystal light, tonight for supper i had 2-1/2 oz. of mashed potatoes from KFC took me 30 minutes to eat them but it really tasted good. Also I feel like I just had 3rds at a big buffett. I can also have cream of most any kind of soup. They call this Full Liquids and I am supposed to be on this for 3 weeks. Hope this helps and keep in touch and we will compare. Goodluck to you Thanks Becky

Hiyah Lynn My doctor and your doc must have went to the same school. I am still on those same crappy liquids that your are on and at one time thought chicken broth was nectar from the goods. I have to do this for 2 weeks Now I need some substance too I will be trying the egg drop soup this weekend. I can't go to yogurt and cottage cheese until 8/31 and then its bring on the cottage cheese Continued success Jackie

I had my remake on 8/24. I am supposed to be on all fluids for one week. This constitutes of water, jello, broth with unflavored protein added, and a protein drink. I am tired of the SSDD. But I don't DARE go off dr's orders! I am trying to gain the "post-op fairy's" good graces so the pain will go away. Can add one new protein food everyday starting 1 week post-op. Cannot wait! Please stick with drs orders, even though it is testing your patience. Good things come to those who wait.....true right?
