I'm drinking coffee as we speak. Shoot....they give you coffee in the hospital....or atleast they did when I was in. They told me if I'm going to drink caffinated coffee that I need to keep my water intake up....but if I'm drinking decaf that I don't need to worry as much. The really BIG NO NO was smoking, sugars, carbs and fats! RNY 2-20-03 267/145/135 so I'm past my goal already and still losing for some reason. Oh and no alochol till your 6 months post op....and watch out...cause you'll get drunk real fast if you had the gastric bypass. Good LUCK!!~

My doctor said no caffeine, only decaf coffee is okay. I miss it a lot too. I used to drink from 3-5 cups a day. Now I don't drink any. I feel for you. I wouldn't recommend you drinking it and try not to think about it so much either.

Hi Deborah, I've been drinking coffee since I got home. It's a very slow go though usually 6 oz takes me over an hour and 3 reheats to fini**** is fine with my Dr. Sometimes I even add the unjury unflavored protein to it also. I love my coffee! Sandy

I was told I cold have real coffee if my water intake was at least 70 oz a day. I had my first cup this morning and it didn't make me sick.

My dietician said no caffeine for six months. Start with some decaf and see how you make out. I am a big iced tea drinker, and I knew I could never give that up, so I just switched to decaf and put splenda in it. My husband even drinks it and says it tastes good! Leland
