I JUST RECIEVED MY C-PAP YESTERDAY AND SLEEPING WITH IT MADE ME SO TIRED I CAN BARLEY KEEP MY EYES OPEN. WILL THIS TOO PASS?

I don't know much about c-pap machines but I have heard so many wonderful things about them. I am sure in time you will get used to it and enjoy peaceful sleeps. Patty

Hey Chanda, I got my Cpap on Friday, 20th. The first night was different at first but was able to use the 'ramp' which drops the pressure and gradually resumes over 30 minutes while I fell asleep. I hope you have better success! I woke up refreshed and ready to get the day underway... rather than peeling myself off of the sheets. Grin It was suggested that I sleep on my back... that only works for a short while but found I am able to sleep on my side easily. You may want to try two pillows... can't think of anything else that may help. It may just take a few nights to get used to having something on your face and the exhaling thing is a little tricky for the first few minutes. hahahaha Good luck! Rhonda 8/30/04

It takes a few nights to get use to the mask. I have had several kinds over the years and each works a bit different. When I first started using mine, I also used the "ramp". By the time it was up to speed, I was a sleep. After a few nights, I had much better days. Marla

I've had a c-pap for 4 years and when they upped my pressure (incorrectly) I was exhausted as well. It was blowing my mouth open so I wasn't getting the benefit of the CPAP. I am lucky in that I accepted my CPAP easily and didn't have this problem until 2 years ago. If you continue to have problems contact your doctor...even a small adjustment can make a huge difference. They do have different types of masks and chin straps to keep your mouth shut as well. Best of Luck!

I have a Bi-Pap (which is pretty much the same only for us with REALLY bad Apnea) I found it helped me acclimate to sleep on a couch for the first couple weeks, because you can put your head on the arm and it stays flat so your mask can get a good seal. Then, once you are used to it, you can transition back to your bed. I love the machine, I can fall asleep a lot faster (I think I am conditioned to fall asleep now whenever I hear the purr of my machine,) and I sleep all through the night and wake up refreshed. Good Luck! Jud
