Got a cold!!!

My surgery is Tues 8/24. Yesterday I caught a cold somehow. What am I suppose to do? I am freaking out here!! Does anyone know if I can still have my surgery done if it is not gone yet?? Debbie

When I had my gallbladder out many eons ago I had a cold the day of surgery and they said it wasn't a problem. Drink lots of tea and hot soup and hopefully you will knock it out of you by then. Patty

Hi Debbie My surgery date is 8/23. Are you sure you have a cold? For the past couple of weeks I have been coughing and sinuses running but it is normal for me this time of the year...seasonal allergies! I hope they have something to suck on the help with the scratchy throat and cough, cause I think it is going to hurt to cough...sigh. Good luck to you! Yvonne

Ditto for me.....surgery on monday....coughing my head off...stuffy nose...as long as you don't have a fever should be ok...I am a nurse if that helps...lol Barb (must be this wonderful summer weather we have been having...NOT!!!) LOL

Debbie, Start hitting the vitamin C. As long as there is no fever, phlem, or cough you should be ok. Denise

DEBBIE: I AM 5 DAYS POST-OP AND THE SAME HAPPENED TO ME A FEW WEEKS BEFORE MY SURGERY! I CALLED MY PRIMARY DOC AND HE PUT ME ON AN ANTIBIOTIC 3 TIMES A DAY! EVEN WHEN IT GOT RID OF MY COLD I STILL KEPT TAKING IT! CALL YOUR DOC ASAP!!!! MY SURGEONS OFFICE SAID THAT IF IT WENT INTO MY CHEST MY SURGERY WOULD BE POST-PONED AND I DIDN'T WANT THAT!!!! Hi. I am a newbie but have been a lurker for awhile. I am also scheduled for RNY OPEN on 8/24/04 and have developed something akin to a cold. I am drinking hot tea and broth and hoping I feel better by Tuesday. It's been a long journey to get to a surgery date and hopefully nothing is gonna stand in the way of getting to "the other side."
