Hi Cheryl. I had surg on the 17th and cme home today. Hang in there. these things happen. Dehydratin is a big one. I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere and sip on it throughout the day. I am still on liquids now, and force myslef to drink, just because I know what can happen. Did you go home with any blood thinners like heparin, lovenox or coumadin? I didn't, but somehow feel that I should have. Have you considered antidepressants, they truly help. I was on prozac before my surgery, now I take it in liquid form. I will prayer for you. Keep your head up. You want through a lot to be where you are today. Carolyn

Hi Cheryl: I had my surgery on the 9th also. I am sorry to hear that you had to be rehospitalized. My program is just creamed soup, yogurt and pudding right now. The key thing is to get your protien, vitamins and water in. Don't worry too much about the food, just do the best you can. I still can't take all the food in that I am supposed to. The water and walking as much as you can should help the heartburn. Just keep taking a short stroll every hour, even just around the house. Hope it gets easier for you. Patty

Hi Cheryl, I had surgery on the 12th. The blood thinners caused me to form blood clots in my new pouch and I spent 4.5 days in ICU on account of it...I am and was angry about this. Then I had to reflect on folks who did not make it home from surgery, or who have severe complications. I guess our minor set backs are just that. You should be on pepcid or gasX or something. The doctor's put me on some injected form of medication to stop all nausia/heartburn. When you have a set back- you DO NOT jump back as quickly. I am weak myself. After doing some BASIC things I find myself exhausted. I guess what I am trying to say is- Guess what? We are here and alive. It sucks, and I have a lot of emotions and anger associated with it. However, here I can write to you and say Cheryl, its gonna be ok, and you are gonna get out of there..... See some positivity from a Bad situation! Praying for you girl. Denise

Cheryl, I had my surgery on the 9th too. I am so sorry you have had problems and are not feeling better yet. I think it is normal for people to get into some depression after surgery and more so after having problems.Just try to remember it's over and IT WILL GET BETTER ,once you get you iron level back up it will make a big difference. I am on Pepicd Complete and I don't have heartburn but I have enough gas to blow-up a hot air ballon !! When you get up to go to the bathroom or whatever take the long way back to your bed or couch and slowly increase it to were you make two laps around the inside of your house before you sit back down, it's a little but it will help lots !! I will keep you in my prayers Linda

Post op day 18, Cheryl hang in there I have had some pretty sore days but they do get better. I remember thinking at 10 days I would never be ready to go back to work but something happens and you make the committment and you get out and it feels good. I am back at work now and yes I move slow but it is great to have the support at work. I have lost 37lbs to date which is amazing but it does come with a price. When you are only eating 1/4 to 1/3 cup of food at a meal you are bound to feel tired. Just hang in there it does get better and you will get pass this stage! Good luck and keep me up to date with how you are doing! Cyndi
