I am having surgery on August 31 and I need help. Can anyone tell me what supplies should I take for my surgery? What kind of clothes should I take? Any advise is greatly appreciative.

I brought all kinds of stuff that were recommended here, but I really didn't need anything. I wore a loose summer dress to the hospital, and wore the same one back home. I brought my hairbrush, toothbrush, chapstick, magazines and slippers. But the pain meds kept me kind-of blurry, so I wasn't interested in the magazines. I didn't use the chapstick, since I used the ice chips/sponge moistener that they gave me as often as I could. So when I wasn't up walking or using the bathroom or brushing my hair or teeth, I just slept. I used the hospital slippers that they gave me. It would be a good idea to bring all that stuff, in case you need it, but for the first 2 days, I was pretty "busy" just getting my sleep, pain meds, walking and wetting my mouth with that wonderful little sponge! God bless!

Thank you for your advice. I will keep in mind what you mention when I get my belonging ready for the surgery. God bless you and good luck.

You probably won't need all the things that are suggested. I brought chapstick and a nightgown. It felt good to be in my own nightie the second day, but the hospital gown was also good. I also brought my personal items, deodorant, hairbrush, toothpaste and toothbrush. Oh don't forget slippers for walking the halls. That should be all you need. Patty

Thank you for your advice. I was planning on buying a gown from the store. The cheapest one I had found for my size for $40 plus dollars. I personally do not lilke them and I was probably going to use it only once. Thank you and God bless you.

I took a couple pairs of shorts for walking the hallways and my toothbrush. My mom and wife brought me magazines but I really wasn't interested. I also just used the slippers the hospital gave me. Best of luck.

Thank you for taking time to give some help. The only pants I ever use is jeans. You gave me a great idea in using shorts, especially right now being summer. My only question is it better buying shorts with a button or elastic all around. Also I use a belt all the time with my jeans. Thank you and God bless you.

I just got home from surgery yesterday. I would recommend baby wipes to help with bedside washing. You don't have the energy to take a shower and the wipes offer a cleansing for your face and body. I also took chap stick, slippers, hairbrush and those oral wipes that dont require water or tootbrush. For the ride home I brought along loose sweat pants and top.
