Hey everyone, Just wonder how everyone is doing and how surgery went and how you are feeling. My surgery was fantasic! The doctors and nurses were so thoughtful and kind, it was a great experience for me considering how scared I was of the surgery. I would like to thank all of you who prayed for me. The prayers tremendously worked for me. My mind is ready to get back to normal however my body gets tired very easy. Just wondering how much protein you take in a day and also do you get all your water drank? Also, I still am not sure what the full feeling feels like. Does it hurt when you get full? Does full feel the same as before surgery? Sheri in SC

Hey there! 8-2 for me too! I feel pretty good. My surgery and recovery (so far) have been uneventful. I can usually tell what full feels like, not like before - if I get too full it HURTS! It is actually kind of scary. So I go very slow! Some days I think I get enough protein, others I probably don't. My diet is fairly flexible, kind of 'as tolerated'. I had my first egg yesterday, and ouch. I don't know if that was because of quantity, but I think maybe I didn't chew well enough. I usually get my water in, sometimes I am dying to gulp and have to remember not to - kind of hurts to fill up so fast, even with water. Nona

Hey Nona, Does it hurt in your chest like you can't breathe when you are either full or you think you have swallowed to much? That has happened to me and it hurts! I am not sure what it is from, but I sure do hate when it happens. What type of meals are you eating? I have a hard time not gulping either, I am so use to inhaling my drinks that I really have to concentrate on what I am doing. Do you feel like you have lost weight in the past 2 weeks? Do you work and have you gone back or do you still get tired? I get tired still when I do to much. It is awesome how we are on the road to success though no matter what it takes. Sheri

YES! It hurts in my chest, so bad. That is why I am sometimes afraid to eat, anything. Today I gulped some water, and was like, "oh hell. here it comes" but it was only water and it didn't hurt too bad. My pouch was empty. I do work, and I have gone back, on the 16th. Exactly 2 weeks. I have an office job, so it isn't so bad. I do still get tired, but I can't really tell if there is a reason, like doing too much, because some days, I haven't done anything and I feel exhausted. I don't feel like I have lost weight since the surgery, because I am right at the point where I could lose to, before I sabotaged and gained/lost the same 10 pounds. I expect that once I am clearly below 270, I will then feel like I have truly lost. I feel mushy. I have been so inactive for weeks now, and the tiredness gets in the way to 'work out' even though I am restricted to easy walking for 2 more weeks. I cannot wait until I can lift weights and stuff. I also want to use my bellydancing tapes! Lap Dances for everyone! lol So glad to join you and everyone else on this road to success! ( although, since this is sabotage time for me, I have that expected feeling of: even THIS isn't really gonna work for ME.) Laterz Nona

Mine was on the 9th and each day is getting better. The surgery was not as bad as I thought it would be. I take 32 oz of protien in a crystal lite drink everyday. I think since I am still on a basically liquid diet Im not sure yet that I know what full feels like, I just follow the measurements the nutrionist gave me for the foods. But I know I don't feel hungry at all. Patty

Hey Patti, I am not hungry at all. I am just concerned if I am getting enough protein. I have a friend that did not get enough in and she was put back in the hospital. I am not sure exactly what amount we are suposed to be taking in. With our pouches being swollen and all, we stop before I believe we get all the protein in. I don't know it is all so new to me. I guess time will tell. Are you out and about yet? Do you get tired easily? Sheri

My nutritionist says 20 - 25 grams a day of protien. The protien powder I use though has 32 grams per scoop so I have one scoop a day, I mix it in with my crystal lite, toss in the blender for a couple of mins and slowly sip on it till its done. I go out about once or twice a day but never for too long. I find shopping is the hardest thing on me right now. I usually just get out in the car and do limited walking outside, being women we have plenty of walking in the house cleaning up after everyone. I do make sure though that I walk around a bit inside every hour. Patty

Thanks for getting back with me on how much protein you should have. I heard a number 80 somewhere and have no clue where from. There is no way right now I can get that much in. I think that I might try that crystal light drink. Thanks for the info. Sheri

Hello... I had surgery on 8/2/04... feeling great I just know I am not getting enough protien in.... I have been back to the dr. a few times, my incision got infected and he had to open it and drain it... not a pretty sight...but other than that I am feeling great down 23 lbs.... really happy about that.... I was drinking my water yesterday and got a air pain and boy did it hurt... had to have my husband pat (pound) my back till I finally burped... This surgery is a revision for me so I know when too much is too much before I even get that full painful feeling.... Good luck all you august people

Hey Debra, Thanks for responding to me. What do you mean by a revision? How does full feel to you? Or do you just know from eye balling your food and knowing when you should be full? Sheri
