Hi Jeffery: I had Open RNY on 8/12/04. I came home today, Saturday, and have had lots of achy, gassy pain. I also have incision pain if I let my Tylenol with Codeine dosage run past 3 hours. I have found that walking around the house helps a lot with my achy, gassy pain...BUT walking around hurts my incision pain more. When I sit in my husband's Lazy Boy chair, the incision pain does not hurt but the gassy pain begins to. So, I try to combine the two activities...sitting and walking to help balance it all out. Also, I have been sleeping a ton-three and four hour naps are the norm today and yesterday. I think it is because of the Tylenol 3. It is my goal to keep sipping water and very diluted apple juice all day to keep my fluids up. I got really dehydrated the day after surgery (in the hospital) and it was awful. I do not want that to happen again. Take care! Nicole

My surgery was on August 12...open RNY. And I hurt too!! Whew! Lots of gassy pain and then incision pain when I walk around. I did have my first BM (sorry, gross) and that took care of a lot of the gassy pain. My doctor still has me on clear liquids, so I haven't had anything but juice and jello. Today my partner is going to get me popsicles!! Whoo hoo. Just take your pain meds as scheduled, even if you don't feel like you need them. By the time you feel like you need them you're already in pain....who needs that? Good luck and a speedy recovery. Melissa
