To those who had open....

I had open rny on the 2nd. I came home on the 7th. My incision didn't bother me until the doc took out every other staple on the 10th. Now it feels......tender. Used to not really have any sensation. (I have no signs of infection, it just feels like I thought it would immediately - but is happening a week after.) To you folks that had open this month, how is your incision feeling?

I'm a little sore, especially if i do too much. Why did your doc take out every other staple?

I was not told exactly why. My assumption is that the staples could have all come out, however, with the size incision, 10in (sitting) and the stress placed on it by the weight of my stomach, my surgeon wanted to safeguard one more week from dehiscence. (sp?) - splitting open. I have steri-strips over the entire incision with just room in between for the staple.

I had mine on the 9th, the incision is a bit tender and a bit itchy. The nurse suggested I put some vitamin E oil on it. My sisters was tender for a couple of weeks. Patty

I also had my surgery on 8/2 and now just started having a small area that is infected... red and painful... no leaking but the dr. said to come in Monday so he can look at it and possibly open that one section... other than that I am doing great.... down 23 lbs... not even 2 weeks yet....

I had mine on the 9th and go in on the 18th to have the staples removed. total of 35 staples and an 8 in*****ision. Mine doesnt hurt but it is very ichy. But i also have a G-TUBE now that if starting to hurt a little. Did you have a g-tube? I havent read about to many g-tubes. I hope you feel better soon. ALMA

I did not get a g-tube. I am glad I didn't. Does it drain much? I wonder because it seems like my upper belly is BIGGER than usual - and if that might be some fluid build-up. I cannot wait to get these staples out tomorrow! Nona
