Infection....

Yep. I can't win for losing. I have had pain with one of the 6 incisions since the date of surgery. When I paged the surgeon Thursday night, he said he was shocked that I was gone (his assistant released me) and that the pain was probably because that particular incision was at a major stomach muscle. Well, I paged the surgeon this morning (figure it wouldn't do any good during the weekend and it didn't really start til after hours on Friday) and he said it sounds like it's infected. He wants me to call as soon as they open (at 9am) and come in. At this point, I wouldn't care if it had to stay open and heal from the inside out; as long as the pain goes away! He asked if I was on antibiotics and I told him I was only given the one pill to take the night before surgery. I told him I had one dose of the Lortab Elixir left and asked if it was going to be a problem getting something for the pain and he said I shouldn't have waited so long to call, but that he would see I had something. In case you're wondering what the symptoms are: redness around the incision hardness around the incision pain around the incision swelling around the incision Things can't ever go easy!

I'm so sorry you're having post op problems, thank you for the heads up on what to look for. God bless you on a quick healing of your infection and you have a routine recovery from here on out. Barbara
