Is there anything I need to do to prepare?

my surgery date is August 9th ( Yes!!...1 week), but I do not have my pre-op class at the hospital until this Friday. Is there anything I should be doing..or not doing...from now until the day of the surgery. I had a headache and did not take anything for it because I was not sure what I could take ( if anything). What are the guidelines.

As for what you can take for a headache, I'd take Tylenol, since that is what you can to take after surgery. As for what you should or should not be doing... that varies by surgeon. I can eat and drink pretty much anything up to about 7pm the night before surgery. But I have to stop all caffiene a week before. It is supposed to be so you don't have any withdrawls while in recovery, but I hardly have any caffiene to begin with. Maybe some other people will have other suggestions. GOOD LUCK!!!! *~Amber~*

Aha so now I know what the thing about coffee is, lol. I kept hearing people say you cant have coffee and I couldnt figure out why. I agree with Amber about the Tylenol, that shouldnt hurt you and you shouldnt have to suffer a headache. Mine is Aug. 9th also and all Ive been told to do is have a liquid diet the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. I was also told if I cant quit smoking not to have any the day before surgery. Good luck Patty
