Confirm times.......

I just called to confirm what time I needed to be at the hospital the day of my procedure as I had been told I was the second procedure and had to be there around 10:30 when I received my date. I called my doctor's secretary to receive a message that she was on vacation this week. I called the office number and given another number to call. When I called the person told me I was on her list to call today but that I was the first procedure and had to be at the hospital at 5:30. My doctor's secretary has given me wrong information in the past and that was my major reason for the call but thank God I called!!!. Not that I am not under enough stress right now. The hard thing is I will now have to find someone to be at my house by 4:30 am to be with my boys (5 and 4) and get them to daycare for the day. I am sure that will work out though as my husband has pleanty of family in the area. Best of luck to all of us and know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Ginny M 8/4/04

Just take a deep breath and remember that this will work out and the kids will get to daycare and you will be headed for a new life! Good thing you called, I think I will do the same. I was told I needed to be there at 10:30 for a 12:30 surgery time. I am picking up the phone as I type this.

When I orginally booked my surgery I was told I was the first one of the day at 7:30am. Which means I would need to be there by 5:30am. But when I met with my surgeon on 7/23 his nurse gave me the final instructions and she said I was scheduled for the 2nd surgery at 9am. So I would need to be there by 7am. WHich is a little better for me, I am definitely NOT a morning person. BUT, I know I wont be able to sleep the night before anyways. The hospital and the medical center coordinating my care have been BIG dummies. On every form I filled out, I listed my WORK number as my primary number. I even wrote do not call next to my home number. I am at work the hours they are open. My husband works nights, so he is at home sleeping and doesn't need medical people calling me left and right. But, of course, they have decided they will call my home number or die. The hospital is trying to get in touch with me for medical questions related to my anesthesia. But when I call, all I get is a voicemail box, I leave a message, for them to call me at WORK and then they call me back at home, leaving a message on my machine. I hope I don't miss my phone call tomorrow telling me what time my surgery is scheduled for. I would hate to show up at 7am and my surgery was sched for 530am. What a pain! Leland Lap RNY 08/04/04

Wow thats a very good idea, I never gave that a thought. I am supposed to be the first one on Monday at 7:45 and have to be at the hospital for 6am but I think I will also call to confirm. Thanks for the suggestion and best wishes. Patty
