i have a date august 16,04 but i have been on this liquid diet since july 18 and i am so sick of that darn vanilla smoothie and proti bar. I was never a sweetaholic my weakness was starches. i am craving starches is there anyone else out there going thru the same thing?

That's a really long time to be on a liquid diet. My Dr just requires a liquid diet one day before surgery. Best wishes Patty

I'm scheduled for August 23rd. I have to say one of my biggest worries post op is dealing with the mental separation from food. Just keep telling yourself this is just "temporary. The results will get you kick started on a new life of healthiness! Try to do something else to occupy your mind when you start to want something else. Read a magazine, go for a walk any thing but stick your head in the fidge and look at the food you know you can't have any way. Good luck and god bless.

Wow! That is a long time to be on nothing but liquids. You must be a strong woman because I know I couldn't do it!!! My surgeon put me on a VERY low car diet until 2 days before surgery - then liquids only. I too am craving starches. I feel your pain! Nothing would be better than mashed potatoes right now. But I keep reminding myself that it will be worth it not to cheat. I don't want to jeopardize my health or surgery. Try to hang in there. If you need to vent, e-mail me. I'm more than happy to listen. Good luck with your surgery. Hope all goes well.

Gee... doctors are so different in their approaches! My surgery will be lap RNY and I am not on ANY special diet before hand. Maybe you could venture into pureed foods at least so that you're not eating the same old smoothee everyday. Hang in there. We're all rooting for you. ~Janne
