Are you talking about the Greenfield filters for blood clots? If so, I asked the internist about that at my pre-op and he told me that they only use them if someone has a history of blood clots, otherwise they just use blood thinners. Patty

Thank you Patty, thats it. I was wondering , why some had them and some didnt . My Dr never said a word about it , so I didnt know if I should ask or not. I dont have a history of cloting .Well not yet ,anyway. I always get up and start moving the next day, so maybe thats why. Thanks again

My surgeron requires all of his patients to have a vena cava filter in the week before surgery to prevent any blood clots reaching your heart and lungs after surgery. nece
