Stressin'......

I had made it entirely through the pre-requisite process (took 7 months) in FL and was 2 weeks away from my surgery date when my husband received military orders to Cali. So after a year of continued depression and failed weight loss attempts, I am back in the saddle. Now I have done all my tests again to bring them current for my pre-op consult this Friday in hopes that I will get a date ASAP before DH deploys again. EVERYTHING came back great... except I have an elevated white-cell count. PCM said I am borderline anemic, to take my vitamins with iron, and not ro worry.... but I am STRESSIN'! Oh, and then I did some research, and turns out that stress can elevate... you guessed it "white cell counts". Uggg! My appt. is Friday 7/23. Anyone had similar experience? Thanks guys!

Hey Jenn!!! I'm a military spouse as well.... I'm just getting my surgery in 8/2 before our coverage expires on 8/20!!! ( We're reserve, but DH was activated for a year for a trip to Iraq.... we're coming off TriCare...) I'm so thankful I can get this done quickly!!! It has been 4 months from first consult to surgery, but seems likes ages!!! As far as the white cell count... you must be fighting some sort of low level infection..... what about herbals like echinacea or stress formula with something to boost your immune system?? Couldn't hurt, and might help!!!! I know a lot of doctor's don't do herbals, but as a nurse I see a lot of people benefit from them. Just remember to mention them when you go to the DR..... So where is your new home???? I'm living close to West Point, so that's where my doc and surgery are...... less than 2 weeks to go!!!! Teri S

OMG! You must be sooo excited, and a bit scared, huh? It is so nice to find another military wife! I called my doc, and they said that I should not be conerned since it is only slightly elevated and all other levels were great. They said that I should take iron supplements?? Of course, since I want this so bad, I am just sure something will jump in my way. We are in Fremont, CA... DH is MSST 91105 Alameda. We are looking forward to getting back to the east coast! I am from New York, so know West Point area very well. I am blowing off a family reunion near there in a few weeks... once again... because I am FAT. We should keep track of one another! Let me know how things are going. Jenn

Scared??? Yes, but I've made up my mind I'll be fine, so I'm not allowing myself to think anything but positively!!! Iron is a good idea... it's an essential metal so if you're low it screws everything up... My surgeon has been great... very down to earth and realistic..... the nutritionist hasn't written her letter yet, but he's blowing it off because he knows I kept the appointment....cool guy!! So where in NY are you from? My DH is also a MSgt... putting on Senior (fingers crossed) in a month or two... we're at Stewart just north of West Point. We'll definitely keep track.... I'll have my DH post after surgery to update... I'm planning on an uneventful surgery and quick recovery God willing, and even though the surgeon says I'll be in 5 days....(open RNY).... he dosen't know me!!! Good luck with your appointments!!!! Be persistent!!! Teri S
