houston, anyone??

i'm scheduled for surgery 8-25 at memorial hermann downtown...anyone know of any good support groups??

Hello Houston, I just joined yesterday and I think this is a great start for you. I recieved alot of nice wishes and good thoughts from others. Congrats on your date and I wish you a speedy recovery. I am scheduled for 8/3 and feeling nervous about the reality of it all. Good luck! Nicole

Celey, I just wanted to say Congratulations on your surgery date! Have you asked your surgeon if he has any support groups he/she recommends? Also, does the hospital offer one? I also found this information in the library here on OH regarding support groups in Houston. "02/26/02: Yes! There are 2 groups in the Houston area. Houston Weight Loss Surgery Support Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HWLSSG) - This group meets the first Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. in the Park Plaza Professional Building (in the museum district at the corner of Caroline and Binz). Northwest Houston Bariatric Support Group (http://communities.msn.com/NWHBSG) - This group meets the third Sunday of every month at 2 p.m. at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center (in northwest Houston near 290 and 1960). I usually hemhaw about going. Once I get there I am so glad I did. Very nice people - Teresa Morgan" I don't know if the groups are still active, but it's worth it to check em out!
