Newbie scheduled for August 4

My surgery is coming closer and closer, but I still can't come to terms with the fact that I'm actually having it. It feels like a dream. I'm really scared because I haven't spent the night in a hospital since I was 4. Any advice for the big day?

Congratulations on your August surgery date and Good luck. The only advice I have is be positive and leave all the bad thoughts behind. Best wishes Patty

Christina - Congratulations on your surgery date! I, too, am having trouble accepting that it is real. I am certain everything will be alright at the hospital! I have had to have two non-invasive procedures (one in 2001 and 2003) during which they put me under general anesthesia. I remember being in the room waiting to go to surgery and then nothing. The next thing I remember is waking up in recovery. We will be fine. The best advice I can give is to be positive, especially going into surgery. The suggestion about positive imagery is a very good one. And it will most likely help you remain calm and happy about this step you are taking. Hope I helped - and didn't just ramble!! Heather

ON SURGERY DATE AND WELCOME ABOARD.I JUST MY DATE FOR SURGERY YESTERDAY I FEEL THE SAME WAY YOU DO IT IS TOTALLY NORMAL TO BE NERVOUS AND SCARED I AM MY DATE FOR WLS IS 08/11/04 WITH DR.COX IN FLORIDA. Christina, You won't be alone that day. I also have an Aug. 4th date, and noticed others on your message board with the same date as well. I think we all probably are experiencing about the same whirlwind of emotions. We will all do great. Keep smiling, stay positive and keep a sense of humor.
