The social aspect of food is really where we all we struggle. And we need to realize that and begin to deal with it now. I just left a picnic committee meeting. I've been on the committee for my company's picnic for years. Well this yr its Sept 25th. I'm going, (probably 40-50lbs lighter!) but I know I wont be able to eat anything. I'm having to coordinate foods and sodas I won't be able to drink or eat. Its going to be really hard. But you know what, when I get the pictures back from the 2004 picnic and compare them to the pictures from the 2003 one, and I see the weight loss difference, trust me, I wont' care that I couldn't eat the crap they were eating! It seems like when ever we have a family gathering, we go out to dinner. I have to remind my family that I am not going to be able to go out to dinner. This year for my birthday in November ( I should have dropped 80lbs by then) In stead of having the big family dinner, we are doing something active! We are going iceskating or going rollerskating or something like that. No big family dinners anymore. I know that Thanksgiving and Christmas will be hard. But I will get through it!!! Leland, I know what you are going through. When I worked, I was always one of the "food" people. Well don't have that problem at the present time. My family is also known for big family dinners. Things will change on my part. The idea of a skating party is great. As long as it is not focused on food, but family, it will be grand. Good luck in the up coming month with your surgery. Marla

I'm not nervous about following the diet. I'm scared to death about losing my bestest friend.. FOOD! I don't know what I am going to do with out her always with me. It's to frightening to truly think about. I want the pounds to leave.. but not my precious food. Angelina

I know what you mean about your best friend food! My big thing is I eat out of habit or boredom. What on earth will I do from now on while I'm watching TV? Needless to say, I'm asking for a treadmill for Christmas. I've also moved my scrapbooking table into the living room and I've set up a small area. So hopefully I can get into the habit of doing something scrapbook related while the tube is on. (It would help me get these boxes of photos done!) The only emotional eating that I do now is in Celebration. I need to find another way to Celebrate. Too bad I work for a company that owns restaurants!!! it's in my blood! Leland Lap RNY 08/04/04
