Does anyone know if there are any long-term complications with the surgery (say 15 or 20 years down the road)? I've heard of the risk of hernia, but thats about it. It seems like after a few months, people stop posting, so it's hard to get an idea of how they are doing over the long term. Thanks again Donna

Donna, I am still pre op myself. I have not heard of long term complications in general, unless you do not take your vitamins: then thereare issues. Try posting on the main message board. You will get more response there. There are people there that post who are one year to five years out. Good luck, Mary RNY aug 4th 2004

The long term complications that I've been informed of are osteoperosis (I don't know how to spell it), my surgeon says that loss of bone mass is a big one so you have to be very careful that you're taking your calcium the correct way. There was a lady my surgeon spoke of at his last support group meeting on Saturday who was 21 years out that came back to visit him and her only complaint was that she never got a tummy tuck. So he gave her one. Other than that??? Hope that helps. Angelina
