Hi All! Well I am scheduled for RNY one month from today. Can't believe it. Any other Aug 11th peeps out there? Also, how long have your surgeons suggested you take off of work post surgery? I am having lap rny and wondering is 2 weeks enough, or will I want to take another week? Lori

Hi Lori, My surgeon said he has had people have the Lap RNY and go back to work within 2 to 3 weeks. You might want to request another week to be on the safe side & if he releases you after 2 you can probably always go back to work early. This is what my HR co-ordinator told me to do was request up to 4 weeks & I can always come back after 2 or 3 if I want as long as I have a doctors return slip. Greg

Hi, my date is august18. My RNY is also bein done via lap. My Dr. said time off depends on the type of work you do. I'm an x-ray tech and he told me 4-6 weeks. Good luck...I'm getting nervous!

You may want to schedule another week. I work in HR and you can always go back early with a doctors note. If your company has FMLA apply for that. Most companies have personal leave's, however they do not secure your job whereas FMLA does! I am having open bypass surgery on Aug 3 and I have requested 2 months, only because my doc says 6-8 weeks. I'm 31 and I'm hoping to be back in 3 weeks. I'm the only one in my office that knows payroll and I do payroll for about 350 people. So I can't afford to stay out too long. Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to be a "loser".

Hi all! Thanks for the responses. I think I will follow your advice and ask for a third week off and then just go back if I feel up to it. I work in an office, so it shouldn't bee to hard on me, but I hear that post surgery you are really tired, so better safe than sorry. Thanks for the tips! Come September we will all be losers! yeah!
