One Month from Today...
Hi Lori,
My surgeon said he has had people have the Lap RNY and go back to work within 2 to 3 weeks. You might want to request another week to be on the safe side & if he releases you after 2 you can probably always go back to work early. This is what my HR co-ordinator told me to do was request up to 4 weeks & I can always come back after 2 or 3 if I want as long as I have a doctors return slip.

You may want to schedule another week. I work in HR and you can always go back early with a doctors note. If your company has FMLA apply for that. Most companies have personal leave's, however they do not secure your job whereas FMLA does! I am having open bypass surgery on Aug 3 and I have requested 2 months, only because my doc says 6-8 weeks. I'm 31 and I'm hoping to be back in 3 weeks. I'm the only one in my office that knows payroll and I do payroll for about 350 people. So I can't afford to stay out too long. Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to be a "loser".
Hi Lori,
My name is Chrissy, i had sugery in december of 2003... i went back to work after 2 weeks - i think it depends on your job. i sit at a desk, and all my co-workers knew what i had done so they were all quick to help and support me.. let me know if i can answer any other questions for you....

Hi all!
Thanks for the responses. I think I will follow your advice and ask for a third week off and then just go back if I feel up to it. I work in an office, so it shouldn't bee to hard on me, but I hear that post surgery you are really tired, so better safe than sorry. Thanks for the tips!
Come September we will all be losers! yeah!
