What are the chances I'll be able to shower and wash my hair while in the hospital? I've had 3 C-sections and a hysterectomy and was able to then but it seems like a lot of people talk like you can't after this. Does anyone know? I hate to be scrungy!!!! LOL

I haven't gone through any of this yet, but I would imagine that we wouldn't be showering at the hospital, I plan on fixing hair and showering the morning of. I really haven't thought of that yet, I have although thought of EVERYTHING else imaginable..... jacque

Connie, I think it depends on how your surgery is done. I'm having lap done so I will be showering at the hospital. Good Luck! Cindy

Thanks, Chrissy! I'll start mentally preparing myself for grubbiness and hop in the shower as soon as I get home!!! It won't be a pretty sight, I'm sure!!! LOL Hugs, Connie

This is a question for your surgical Practice. I attended a patient seminar and a member of the nursing staff came to show us some of the stuff we would be hooked up to and someone asked about the shower. She said that usually on the morning the patients are going home, they take a shower after eating breakfast. She said that usually they want to make sure you can handle the shower with limited help before you go home. However, my surgeon was there and i said, what if I feel like it sooner? He said that we can get in the shower whenever we feel like it. He said that we probably won't until day 2, but he has had patients get up and take one 6 hrs post op. So i think it will depend on which surgery you are having (Open or Lap) and what your surgeon thinks about you getting in the shower, and how you feel. If you've had kids, you know how you felt right after that. So I would say kind of judge along those lines. I haven't had children so I have no real clue what I am going to feel like post op. I am keeping a positive attitude that I will feel just fine and I will be up and walking 4 hrs post op, and take a shower first thing the next morning and everything will go as smooth as silk.
