What are your plans for bed attire in hospital. Are you going to use the "lovely" airconditioned model, or something nicer from home? I suppose we will need snaps at shoulder due to the IV, right? Any ideas?

Hiyah Christy I'm pretty sure I will be using the gowns that my hospital provides. I've been told by my PCP that since my hospital specializes in bariatric surgery. They have gowns for us big gals. I will pack a robe with a zip up front for easy access to stiches, bandages and tubes and I don't want to walk the halls with my fanny out. But thats it. Plus the biggest pair of shorts/pants with an elastic waist I can find to go home in since they say your belly is swollen. Yeah right like I have a loose fitting pair of pants. Best wishes Jackie

Yea I was reading about hospitalneeds for our surgery...not only a gown that we will be comfortable on for our walks..but, wipes for our hands for after using the bathroom..since it will be difficult to wash the hands with ivs. I am going to get a large gown, light weight but not see through...for my privacy. I'm going to get one of those T-shirt nighties to take with me. The nurses will help you get it on with the IV. My sister brought one with her and the second day when I went to see her and she had it on, it really made a nice difference from the drab hospital gown. Patty

I will bring my compfy night gown and see how it goes. If somebody sees my fanny I will tell them to get a good look because that will be the last time it is THIS big. HaHa Life is great, getting better. Have a great day. Sabine

I am actually going to purchase one of those "old granny" housecoats called "dusters" from Wal Mart. I scouted them out and they have plenty in LOUD, tacky patterns and big sizes. They were only 11.99. The front either zips or has snaps. I figured that would be easier to handle than a pull over the head type gown or PJ's. But I do not have a robe, that is why I am getting that. I know I will look tacky, but I will get more coverage than in a hospital gown. The Dr's tell you they will have large gowns, but my father was in this particular hospital back in April for shoulder surgery. He's not small, but his gown was. The only slippers I have are cartoon character ones with a big marvin the martian head on them. Those I have to pull on my feet. I think I am going to look for some of those that you just slip into so I dont have to bend. I know what outfit I'll be wearing home, I have ONE pair of pants that I bought a size too big by accident. And I will be wearing those to have something loose. I'm REALLY concerned about the whole hospital part. I'm not worried about pain, or learning to live after the surgery. I am worried about the hospital part. I know that sounds crazy! Well most likely I will use the hospital attire. I was told there attire is much easier due to the IV, etc.....I mostly will carry a lightweight robe. I am packing as least as possible. My friends said they over packed and never even used half the things....sooooooooooo I dunno.... Shay

I am going to pack very lightly...I plan on trying to find some really nice and comfy sun dresses...I have seen some cute cotten type dresses ? at Meryvns in the lingere dept....or something like a cover-up ?? I might try Ross' - I really dont want to spend a whole lot on something Im not going to wear very long....I dont really want to wear a hospital gown...yuck !! but I will if I have too...I am going to bring my bathrobe and slip on slippers - undies and maybe a bra...also bathroom stuff....and thats about it. Since I will be two hours away from home my surgeon requires I stay close to the hospital - so total I will be away from home for approx 7 days. So I need to have a couple of extra dresses. A friend of mine had sugery recently and she said she was not able to wear pants or anything around her middle for a few weeks...so keep that in mind as well... Good Luck to you Michele
