Need EGD INFO!!!!

Hey Jacque, This test is a breeze....you will be sedated doing the procedure. The scope procedure takes about 15 mins. tops. You will not be able to drive home afterwards....have a driver with you....They give you good mind eraser drugs. Be prepared to sleep the rest of the day sleeping the meds off. But it really is a peice cake. Hope this helps....I spent like a total of 2hrs at the most @ the hospital. Shay

Hi there! I had this done about a month ago. When you get there, they will start an IV. The doctor will tell you they are going to spray your throat with some yucky stuff that smells good and tastes bad! They want a big "AHHH" and they grab your tongue with a gauze pad to hold it. (slick thing will hide your throat as a natural reflex when they spray) Don't worry, it is not bad. Then the nice little nurse will start putting happy drugs in your IV. And you are OUT like a light!! I felt them put something in my mouth right when I was going out and this is the oral airway. It keeps your tongue out of the way and also keeps you from biting the scope cause you will be out of it and never know. I remember gagging once, but it was one of those things like a dream. I had no idea of what was taking place!!! I woke up some time later in the same spot I was before they took me in just as happy as a butterfly! Trust me when I say there is nothing to worry about. Hi Jacque, the endoscopy it self will take less then 20 min.you will wait much longer just to get in there. you get wheeled on a strecher so you wont have to tranfer. ansthersia will drug you as soon as your in thge room. you wont feel a thing. they will take biospies of anything that looks abnormal and check you for h-polyi. you would have to be an antiboties prior to sx if thats the case..those hay drugs are quite nice as i didnt feel any jaw pain until that night wheni went to bed. you'll do just fine.
