I don't want to buy too much but for sure I'll have my vitamins, crystal lite to drink, soups, jello, pudding, sf popsicles and advil. Not sure what else to buy. Patty

I thought we weren't supposed to have Advil - it's on a list from my Dr of meds not to take. Tylenol is OK

Oops! you are so right, good thing I didn't buy a whole bunch of them. I'll have to change that to tylenol. Patty

Also, we need some ideas on non-food items... -I bought a shower head that has the rope thingy. I heard it was hard to wash standing straight up, so someone suggested that and a shower seat. -hospital gowns that will fit at amplestuff.com (if the ones that they have at the hospital won't fit) -a wooden spoon to wrap toilet paper around because it will be hard with the incision to wipe. You can get them at the dollar store so that when you don't need it anymore, you can throw it out. -a pedometer (you know we need to be walking after surgery to prevent blood clots, so might as well get some exercise to lose faster!!!) -a CD walkman for the hospital with you fave music. Some people say books, but who's gonna feel like reading when you are on pain meds? Take magazines with lots of picture to look at. I'll update more when I have more ideas! *~Amber~*

Slippers to slip feet in, something loose to wear home, pillow from home for hospital and to hold over tummy on way home, someone to hold your hand! clear things to drink and lots of water, vitamins, calcium, apple juice, shot glass to measure 2 Oz's and lots of pain meds. Marla

I'm not too worried about buying stuff to have as soon as I come home. I have some broth and plenty of water to get me started! I'm sure I'll try to get some kind of liquid protein stuff (not sure what to get in the stores & can't buy online). Right before I saw this post I spoke to my DH's friend about his DW's WLS. I asked him if she had to have help wiping herself and he chuckled. Counting the post in here, I've only read it twice. His DW has lost 120+ lbs to date (surgery was over 3 years ago) and looks like she needs to lose at least another 50 (she's gaining back, drinking soda, etc.). So if you assume she was about 200 lbs. overweight and she wiped her rear on her own, I think most of us can do it too!

At Dr. Murr's support group meeting, I heard several of the post-ops saying that they used the wooden spoon and baby wipes. I think that for some people it's a little more personal to share that information that they needed extra help wiping. I also have a robe on my list for those times when your walking around the hospital. Karee
