....to make the time go by faster? I am so excited about my surgery date in August but time seems to be dragging along. I am just curious as to what everyone else is doing to keep themselves busy until their date arrives. I am sure all you "August Losers" have some fun things planned to keep you busy until it is your day....what are they? Can't wait! Joan

Well Joan no real plan here....except for continuing my support group meetings X3 times a month. And quit smoking as of tomorrow and monitor my weight here.....Sounds like fun huh???? I am so full of mixed emotions. I do plan to throw myself a big party for my 37th birthday July 28th the last big food day.....and to EAT BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!! Shay

Thanks for the reply...I don't have to quit smoking but I could throw myself a big party! Maybe we should all do that...have a before party complete with cake and an after party complete with protien shake a year or so later. What fun! Good luck with becoming a non-smoker! Joan

I'm attending support group meetings too. I'm also praying that things will continue to go smoothly and that I don't have any delays or insurance surprises, etc. I work full time and that helps. It also helps to know that I only have 9 more weekends before surgery, LOL for some reason that makes me feel like it is closer. I have been working on menu plans for after, and making lists. List of things to do before I leave for the hospital. List of things to TAKE to the hospital. List of foods, supplements, etc that I need when I get home. You know, a list of lists. Anyway, I can't believe it is already June. WOW. Oh, I'm also copying recipes from this website to a Word File, then I will print them off and put them in a binder seperated by different categories. That should kill some time too. Don't forget about before pictures, journaling, taking measurements, starting a scrapbook and writing letters to my family and friends just in case something would happen. I am also drawing up a living will, etc to cover all my bases. There? Did I cover it all??!! I hope I gave you an idea or two to kill some time!

WOW! Thanks for all the ideas...maybe if I start now I can get everything accomplished by August. The first thing I am going to do is make a list of things to do and right at the top is going to be "make a list of lists"!!! (too funny) I have got a few projects to do but it seems like I have more wait time than things to do. I really liked your idea of counting by weekends....they always fly by so maybe that will make the time move more quickly! And now on to my list making!! Joan

For me it is just the same old same old. There seems to be so much to do everyday plus with it being summer now there are plants to plant, other out side work to do, company, a couple trips, weddings, parties and other get togethers. I wish time wasn't so packed with things to do. But it is so I am sure August 17th will get here soon. I was crabbing to my husband this morning about folks that get thier approval and then a date for 3 weeks later, I had to wait 3 MONTHS. Then I burst out laughing remembering that I had prayed for an August date, go figure, lol. God must be thinking JEEESE Can't wait too Joan, June

Sounds like you have your summer planned! Good for you! My summer plans aren't nearly as exciting as yours. I don't know what I was thinking but I sent my 7 year old to spend the month with my parents. She has only been gone 3 days but I am already bored since she isn't around to entertain my husband and I. He is going to be leaving for Iraq next week so I am going to be spending the summer alone. I am really going to have to make some serious plans about how to spend my time or I will definately be bored and in my case boredom isn't good because that always leads to eating! Hopefully some of my girl friends from out of town will be able to come visit and keep me entertained. Here's hoping time flies by quickly! Joan

I've been going through all my clothes and giving away all the winter things because I know they wont fit next winter and I've been getting rid of things I wont wear over the next few months even though they are summer clothes. Ive also been doing a weekly count on the number of days and researching as much as I can. My husband is feeling neglected Im online so much. I keep telling him its normal for everyone who is having the surgery to be doing right now. Patty

I am right there with you about the clothes thing. I am getting ready for a garage sale this coming saturday and the majority of it is clothes. It is really exciting to be getting rid of so many things that I know I will never wear again. Counting the days! Joan

My work (an after school program) is having a summer camp like every year, so I will be working there until surgery. I also have a pool at my apartment, so I am going swimming as much as I can! I am having a BIG party the Friday before surgery, so anyone can come!!! Until August 23rd, I am trying to stay as busy as possible! I have 81 days and counting!!!! *~Amber~*
