Laura, when your right your right. Many people are starting a post-surgery life. I could tell by your words that you are very happy. I went to see pictures of you on your profile and you look wonderful. With due respect to your husband you look HOT! You mention you want to do missionary work. That is great. When I was in high school I wanted to be a monk. Being a little crazy is ok because it keeps you sharp. Plus your family says that because they want to be next to you all the time. It is sweet. I will respect that we might not hear from you that often. Just let us know how you are doing once in a while. The best way to let us know you are doing great is posting a message. Plus don't forget to keep on adding more great looking pictures of you. Concerning the pictures of me, I will try very hard to put them up before my 2 year anniversary. I promise you. Take care and keep feeling and looking geat. P.S. Did you have a brother that had surgery? If so how is he doing?

Oh, thanks for asking about my brother. He's doing so great. His surgery was March 14, and he's already lost 90 pounds!!! Wow! I'm so proud of him, and he is feeling so much better since his post-surgical scare. He isn't able to eat "regular foods" yet, but we were all that way right after surgery. Hard to remember back that far. Rod (my brother) says he still has a long way to go, but he's going to make it. I'm really very happy and thrilled with his progress! Thanks again for asking. ~Laura

Laura, tell your brother from all of us that we are so happy for him. Maybe he can take a picture with you. Then you can post it on your profile. Take care.

Hello... I dont think this is the end of the August board...I think most people are close to their goal and are doing so many things now.... now that we can... me I have a support group that meets here at my house the 3rd monday of each month and that keeps me busy... plus my regular job and my teenage sons and we have a exchange student from korea so we are always running.... i do post daily on the texas board... we do meetings all the time...get togethers... I am at my doctors goal but not at mine...I go between 125 - 130... I want to get lower but I am happy where I am... wearing any where from a size 2 - 8 depends on the clothes... I try to get back to the august board but forget alot of the time... I know our 2 yr anniversary is coming up so I am sure more will be posting... Debra

Debra, it is true people are doing so many things now. People have reached their goal or are close to it. I see you mention you have a support group. That is fantastic. If most people who are from the August 2004 don't post because they are busy and are starting to live a new life being normal weight, then I am so happy for them. I can feel you are very happy. That makes us also very happy. Take care.

OK OK, I have come to confess my sins, and beg forgiveness....I've not been at all good at posting, in fact, truth be told, I've not even visited the OH site since about 3 months post op...I have the age old excuse "I've been sooo busy"..hours turn into days, days to weeks, weeks to months and then all of a sudden you wake up and it's been nearly two years...so, I'm headed off to the public square and will take my due flogging like a big girl...oh, wait, I'M NOT A BIG GIRL ANYMORE WOOOOOHOOOO! Congrats to US,,,WE ROCK....Hugs to all, Carol : -D

Carol, if the reason why you were away for 3 months was because you were sooo busy, and living life to its fullist, then you are forgiven. We can't ask for a better excuse. We are all so happy for you. Plus, we would like to see pictures. When you take a break from your busy schedule, try and let us know that you are continuing to do great. That is right, you are not a big girl, you are an awesome lady. Take care.

Hi louis I too am guilty of not posting very often. Life has been hetic with another move and all. I have also been dealing with residuale and NEW complications from the surgery. Specificlly those related to diabeties.......... It seems that while the weight loss has a drastic and positive improvment in Blood glocose levels, this sudden and drastic change has NEGITIVE effects on the rest of the systems. specifically the eys.... The sudden "improvment" causes onset of diabetic retinopthy w/ macula edema.... in short. there is bleeding in my eye and it is causing a swelling of the center of the eye (macula). and this causes blindness............... So far I have had to have numerous laser treatment and now steriod injction ( YES IN the eye!) tHE BEST i CAN HOPE FOR IS A REDUCTION IN FUTURE SIGHT LOSS.... i WILL NEVER HAVE 100% EYE SIGHT AGAIN. For all of three months i was ULCER FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yet once again the ulcers have returned, with associated vomiting.... and problems of anirritated eshphagaus. I think if I knew the INCREASED PROBABILITY of BLINDNESS associated with the results of drastic weight loss I would have NOT had the surgery. I had the surgery to improve my diabeties... now i mafacing progressive blindness as well as a saggy body, and more stomach problems. I am glad so many other are doing so well. I continue to read the boards and wonder just how many others are still not doing well or having problems they were never told abot. Lisa.

Lisa, no one can blame you for not posting on the message board. My heart went out to you when I read the problems you are having with your eyes. Our prayers also go out to you. We are all here for you. It is true many of us are doing great, but we never know. Remember, our surgery is only close to 2 years. We are still babys. Personally for me, this is one of the reason why I value this message board. We all understand each other. We all have lived some of the same complications. Take care and when you have a chance keep us updated on your eye problem.
