I don't have sleep apnea but I thought I would repsond to your post. I had open RYN on 08-19-03, I am 25 years old and doing great. I have been off all pain medication as of yesterday morning and getting around pretty good. I am still a bit sore but that is to be expected. Trust that the Dr. will take care of you and everything will be ok. It is ok to have 2nd, 3rd, 4th thoughts. I rememember them wheeling me back and all I was thinking is I can't do this I better tell Dr. Zahn and then I woke up. Here I am today happy that I had the surgery. You will do fine. Tina

Hi, AMOS friends and family. Well surgery is just around the corner. I have done everything I was scheduled to do. I am just waiting for the telephone call to tell me what time I need to arrive at the hospital. I know 8/26 will be a long day, I have several things planned for today. Swimming, playing cards, washing the last of the clothes that need to be washed and maybe go see a movie tonight with my fiance. (NO POPCORN) *#)$_@_$&. What is seeing a movie withour popcorn, I can do. I did it before. Well, take care and (((24/7)))

I am having open rny on 8/27, I heard people with sleep apnea need to be watched closely after surgery because of the anesthesia. At Northwestern Memorial if you need CPAP nightly, after surgery you are in ICU over night so they can keep a close eye on you. It is for your safety. You will do fine. Just do everything they tell you to do. They are concerned for your safety. I will pray for you for a save and uneventful surgery. ((((24/7))))

I had my surgery on Monday, August 18th. Two days after my sons wedding! That was a little struggle for me. I can and want no longer eat the way I have. I am 6 days post op and have lost 10lbs. I am feeling good. I had the hand assisted RNY. The incisions have been a little sore but they are feeling better now. I was allergic to the leads they had on me for the moniters and I have welts from them. They itch feel ok. I am feeling really good. My friend Jan that had her surgery 6 months ago is planning are 1st ever support group meeting. I am really excited. She is living with her mother and her mother has given her permission to hold the meeting in her home. There is a lady by the name of Janeta that will be haivng her surgery in a couple of weeks and I hope to attend her surgery for a while. Will let you know about our meeting later on in the week.
