Topic: RE: i am so glad i had surgery, it has saved my life and giving me a life
Rachel- Everyone looses at a different pace. Usually how fast you loose at first goes by how much you have to loose.. those with more loose faster..especially in the begining.

hi rachael my name is jodie buckingham and i am going to be getting the surgery done in the near future. my first appointment is jan 21 2004 with the surgeon. i have already done most of the tests including the pulmanary function test and labs. i am getting very anxious about the surgery because of the fears i have for afterwards, and one of them is what you seem to experiencing right now, the hair loss. the question i have is does you have fall out or does it thin out. i am picturing in my head my hair falling out in chuncks and having bald spots all over my head. and the other thing is being nauseous for the rest of my life. im wondering if you could write back and tell me a little about what your going through just so i have some what of a clearer picture. i also wanted to tell you that your a brave woman to do this i know how it feels to antisipate something for so long and then actually go through with it. i know that you are going to do wonderful and your hair will grow back to be more beautiful than it was. i admire you and you bring me strength as my surgery approches. take care and may god continue to hold you in the palm of his hand. stay stong.........jodie buckingham
Topic: RE: Looking for Support
You have my support. It has been very hard for me i developed an ulcer from surgery, i'm cheating and eating the junk again. I could use your support too. I am almost 3 months out and i have lost 41 pounds, I don't know if this is good or bad but i wish i could lose more. I do exercise i just don't follow the diet very well because i am on a sleeping pill that makes me want to eat, i guess i need to get off this so i can get to the goal weight. I will say a pray for you hun, and i am here for you i know i thought this surgery would be a piece of cake but it is hard and depriving. Do you feel better now? Please email me at [email protected]. Hang in there things may look bad now but they will get better. Believe me i know what you mean, i have been so sick from this ulcer. Your friend, Rachael

It's going on four month and I'm about 70lbs down and loving it. I workout at least six days a week and I feel great. I know that I have more weight to lose, but the future looks very promising. Hope you all out there are feeling the same way. Good Luck everyone.
Topic: RE: -45 LBS LAP RNY 8/22
Lisa, I don't have much advice for you. I just wanted to tell you that I had surgery on 8/26 and have been hanging around -47 lbs this past week. I am like you and some weeks I lose and some weeks I don't. I think that we are doing great. I can't wait for that -50, I know it will happen soon. Good luck

Hi Denise; Hang in there. 70 pounds is great. My surgery was August 7th and I've lost 72 pounds so it seems to me you're right on track. I agree with Jennifers reply and I got similar advice. Except I'm a male and I'm suppose to take around 60Gm of protien a day. The number one reason for the hair loss is not getting enough protien. If you don't get enough, supplement with a protein drink. I like Carnation instant breakfast (no sugar added) to supplement when I know I haven't gotton enough protien. I agree also that you need to treat the depression. Go to you're doctor and have him prescribe an anti-depressant. I take Prozac and it really helps keep my emotions on an even keel. Good luck. You can do it.
