Hi Jennifer,
Congrats on your loss so far. I had surgery on 8/15/03 also. I just want to caution you to make sure you eat each day. Protein is very, very important. I was feeling very tired for a couple days and was told I was not getting enough calories (which I thought was hilarious since I love food!). Anyway, I increased my food intake and am losing lots and feeling great. I am down 70 pounds! What is your loss now?

Hi Tracy! I just wanted to check and see how things are going for you. I had my surgery on 8/15/03 also and am down 70 pounds. I need to start exercising--just haven't done it yet. I do not have many problems just if I eat too quickly. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope that you are fine.
Topic: RE: WHAT DO YOU EAT
my tipical day is: Breakfast 20oz protien shake made of 8oz skim milk 12 oz water using carbsolutions protien powder with added ice to make it really cold. (that way I get probably 16oz of water in) I cannot tolerate food first thing in the am. another 20 oz of water Lunch 1/2 of the small single serve tuna fish with FF miricle whip and a few chunks of colby cheese on 2 crackers.
Supper is 1/3 to 1/4 chicken breast with a little lettuce, tomato and FF ranch dressing on the side.another 20 oz of water if not more Snack 1/2 c yougurt with some fruit. I also will have a V8 dring the day to get the veggies in and it counts as water too. sometimes FF refried beans with a litte sour cream and salsa and cheese is lunch or supper. sometimes chili (vegitarian and fat free of course) sometimes soup is supper (chicken &veggies)
Good luck

First of all I think you are doing great. Second have you journaled your food/ liquid intake? maybe there are empty calories in your diet, like from juice. By journaling your intake for a week or so that could give you some insite to your overall intake and there maybe places to either cut back or increase. I personally use a site called www.fitday.com it has a way to track your intake calories ect. Third how much protien do you get a day? if you do not get enough protien your weigh loss can or could be slower. Also by increasing your water intake that also can help with your weight loss. Do you take a multi vite?If you don't that can also cause your body to want to hold on to weight because it is trying to get nutrients from your body fat. The only thing that really matters is that you lose no matter how fast as long as it steady and continuous that is all that matters right? I know it can be frustrating but I have lost more than you because I have a whole lot more to lose than you so it would only stand to reason that I would lose faster than you.
what about your excercise? are you getting that in? at least 20-30 mins a day or at least 3 times a week?
I am just asking questions to help you figure this out. I hope you don't mind the barrage of questions.
Good luck

Hi guys,
I love the fact that there's an August messageboard. I can relate so much better to all of you! I had RNY on 8/26/03 and have lost 53 lbs. That's not a lot to me considering some of the weight loss I've seen here! I was 266 to start and I am 213 right now. I hate to be bitter! The thing is that I am getting married in June and although I'll be a lot smaller by then, I need to find a wedding dress now! All they have in bridal shops is a fourteen to try on dresses, so I need to fit into that to go shopping for one (I am an 18/20 now). I probably need to lose at least another 20 lbs. to get into a 16 so that I can even try on a 14 and not be able to zipper it all the way up. To top things off, wedding dresses run SMALL! Agh! I am stressin'.

Marika - It will slow down and eventually stop.. it is just part of the process...any time you go under anethesia you will have some hair loss..that coupled with our surgery makes it a double whammy.. I have heard when it does come back it is thicker than ever..so hang in there.. it is just temporary.

B-12 shots open up fat cells and helps you burn fat. It also gives you lots of energy and makes you feel alot better. Dont give up. Everyones body is different

Keep in mind that as you lose more fat and you're building muscle, muscle weighs much more than fat, so you're losing more fat than what you scale says.
Don't worry.
Topic: I'm 6 months out -
The hair loss stopped last week. I have hair down to the middle of my back or so, so when I lose hair, it REALLY looks like a bunch. I'm the only one that can tell it's thinner, though. My advice: if you have semi-long or long hair when you start out ... DON'T GET IT CUT OFF!!! It will be okay and you won't miss the "bulk" as much if you keep the length!
