Topic: 6 MONTHS OUT AND COULN'T BE HAPPIER
Today marks six months since my RNY and I'm down 106 pounds. I can't believe I have less than 50 pounds to go to hit my goal!! I also can't believe all of the changes that have taken place with each pound I've lost. I've discovered bones that I didn't know I had, lol. I've gone from a size 32 to 16s and 18s. It's hard to believe sometimes when I take clothes out of the dryer that my butt actually fits into them. Every aspect of my life has changed. I have so much energy, I'm much happier than I have been in a long time and it's a cool thing to actually feel pretty. RNY 8-5-03 330/224/180

Topic: RE: Question?
I would like to add my response to this question; it is true that as a female when your body senses "starvation" it hordes any and all calories as fat; this was due to when we first set foot "upright" on the planet we had to roam for food from place to place; males burned the food as "hunter gathers" females had to maintain ability to procreate hence the storing of calories; even compounding the increase of excercise may not accelerate your weight loss; the good news as others have stated these times were it appears your loss has "stalled" will pass; the most important thing is KEEP ON FOCUS; eat the balanced meals, chew S-L-O-W-L-Y, dring at least 64 oz of water; have PROTEIN at every meal; keep a positive attitude that hey "I'm over 5 months out and I'm getting this fat business way behind me; look out world
"I got me a whole NEW ATTITUDE"
I saw your picture you got a real pretty smile so show folks that chamionship smile and that NEW ATTITUDE
Now keep up the good work
Your getting there
We (all of us AUGUST SURGERIES)are pulling for ya

I also have been taking digital photos from the "get-go" and it's get to really see the difference; for the weirdest thing and nobody can tell me "why"
But when we are fat( that's right FAT, not big boned, or glandular but plain ole FAT) for some reason we don't "see" the fat and somehow see ourselves as appearing normal. I look at pictures of my self the day of my surgery and can only think Oh my god who the hell is that person that looks like a bloated tick?
I run into people often that haven't seen me since prior to surgery and they honest to god FREAK OUT
The pictures and being able to wear "NORMAL" clothes are the greatest "drugs" I can take; I mean the other day I tried on a pair of NAUTICA size 40 jeans and they felt so good and looked GREAT on me; but I'm looking to get down to a "loose" size 38-36 at least; all the while taking photos as I go.
Keep it up.
Karen or anyone else interested; At my job I'm considered an "expert" with MS PowerPoint so if you need some help on making some kind of interesting presentation of your weight loss progress; (I did of my wife and I and folks love it)
Just let me know
Topic: 5 Months post Op and DAMN HAPPY
Greetings all; as my entry states right now I could'nt be happier; I had surgery on Aug 26th and at that time weighed 406 pounds, wore size 56 pants looked terrible and felt worse; as the fellas would say I "wuz a big ole boy"; I could swet while taking a shower, was too fat to play with my grandson; could'nt climb one flight of stairs without getting out of breath now today Feb 7th after a brisk work out at the gym (imagine that he said GYM; that's right I now work out at least three days or more every week) I weighed 285 and one half pounds;what is that something like one hundred twenty one pounds or so; I wrote it out on purpose thats one hundred twenty one pounds OFF my sore aching legs and feet; not to mention my heart; and my DAILY BACKACHE pain is now HISTROY!!!
I now wear size 40 pants;
I get great comments about "You really look so much younger" man that is so great. I have had MARINES tell me "I'm looking trim" now that's something for a MARINE to say as nobody knows "TRIM" like a United States MARINE knows trim- SEMPER FI HOO RHAA
I want all of you to KNOW Dr. Anez is "THE MAN" accept no subistutes!!!!
I no longer take any medicines(hey it's spelled wrong so what) and I sleep all night long like a baby WITHOUT A C-PAP to breath
This surgery was the greatest thing I could have ever done; my lovely wife( I get paid extra to say that) also had the surgery one month before me; july 15th and shes lost over 95 pounds and looks so lovely and feels so much better
I want to post some pictures as I have kept a great digital photo journal of our progress; hopefully those interested will be able to view them.

Hi Tammy!
I sure am glad you posted! I also had surgery in Aug. (18th). I started out at 275 and now weigh 194. I felt like I was losing too slow, but you and the other replies have made me feel better. I have just started "curves" for women and love it! I still need to lose 44 lb. and it's taking longer to lose the weight. I'm hoping the extra exercise will speed it up.

Topic: RE: If I knew then what I know now!
Hi Jadyn.
I just read your post and was wondering how the hair loss is going. I too am losing mine bad. I keep finding it everywhere! When I wa**** it leaves a big "wad" in the drain, and stops it up. I like the remark a lady posted before. She said it looked like a small animal was in her drain! Ha, Ha! No matter how much I bru**** or run my finger through it it keeps coming out constantly. It's very discouraging, but I knew it was going to happen. I have cut mine shorter (a little longer than chin length)
and it feels better. I read on this message board last year that hair growth and loss goes in 3 month cycles, so if that's true there is hope soon that it it will go from loss to growing. Cross your fingers and say a little prayer cause I sure am! For both of us!!! Keep your chin up and let me know how it's going.
Your "thinning" friend,
Cathy

Your post comes at a good time since the scale told me today that I GAINED two pounds and I'm only 5 1/2 months out. I've been feeling really yucky lately as I look at myself and still see the same body as before even though I see the evidence in my clothes and everyone tells me they see a huge difference. My starting weight was 266 and now I'm 195, a difference of 71 pounds which is a lot of weight especially since I'm only 5"3.
