hi gail thanks for the reply. congrats on being 1 year out. ask your dr. for a perscription for pepcid or something similar that will help the burning feeling. 2 donuts were a little much you can have treats like that once and awhile if you can do it under moderation, but if you cant control the amount that may get you back to where we all were, i have a few cookies here and there now its 2 or 3 instead of the 10 or 15 i could eat before and im satisfied and im not nuts cause it was all taken away moderation is the key. yes i feel a little better i am going for a few more tests so we will see what happens

I cannot believe that a year has gone by, and 155lbs! I am so happy, and I am looking better and better. It is so nice not to shop for the largest thing on the rack, and I can shop just about anywhere now! I love it. Thank you Dr. Patti for a new start on life and my tool to make it better! FAT

Debbie,
I hope you are feeling better by now. I too am a year out from surgery. I've had no problems and felt great for the past year.....until about a week ago. My problem is like heart burn, from my pouch to the bottom of my throat. But like you it feels better when I eat -- the burning starts about an hour or so after I eat -- as soon as I eat again it goes away!
Today I also dumped very badly. Haven't had trouble with that in the past either. I know why I dumped though -- ate two donuts! I know that was stupid and I've learned my lesson. Obviously the reason I haven't dumped in the past is that I followed the rules. Maybe that is my whole problem -- I've been loosening up what I eat -- one year of being good and now I'm loosing it. Got to back to basics.
Hope you problem is minor and solved soon.

Topic: RE: Anyone else nervous about being 1 year out?
Reading the comments here I feel as if you all might have lost perspective of what really matters. Do you feel better? Has your quality of life improved? I know mine has and for that I am most thankful! I used to focus only on what I weighed, but now I see that I am most likely where I will be for the rest of my life at 150 lbs. Cindy, why do you want to be in the "normal" BMI range? What is really normal? Do not conform yourself to a chart, what others think, or how they view you. Be happy with what you have accomplished, because some people will only DREAM of what you now have. YOUR HEALTH.

1 year out on Friday.

I was being woke up by the nurses to be taken into the pre-op area - my anesthesiologist was coming in to double check I was okay. My surgeon was running all over, excited as a little boy with a new puppy. He truly loves to help people and he knew what I would learn - that I was about to take the first step to a much healthier life. So, to all of you that share August 17 with me, congrats! It only gets better from here.
Topic: Congrats Laura Boarman 1 yr Anniversary on 8-18-2004
Hi Laura,
You don't know me but we are probable 1/2 cousins or 2nd or 3rd 1/2 cousins some where down the line. I'll try to make it clearer. Martina Boarman is my Mom's (Mom's name was Dorothy Hawkins, maiden name Hardesty) 1/2 Sister who was married to Jess. To me they were my Uncle Jess and still today my Aunt Teen. Mom never counted Aunt Teen as a 1/2 sister she always counted her AS her Sister. I know Jerry and Joyce Boarman really well. Joyce and I have been friends for nearly 10 years. Does this sound familier to you. I think Joyce said you were one of Carl's children? Do I have that right?
I wanted to be the first to wish you A HAPPY 1 YR ANNIVERSARY!
I know it is the 17th right now, but it is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the 18th. Anyway I hope I am as successful as you have been, I read your profile.
My Profile is on here too. Feel free to take a look. I'm at the very beginning of this journey --- waiting and waiting and waiting on insurance approval. It's been almost 3 weeks since they mailed off my papers and I'm still w a i t i n g.
If you have any advise I sure would welcome it. Feel free to email me.
Again CONGRATSon a WONDERFUL FULL YEAR OF WEIGHT LOSS!

Dear Little Sherry,
I hope God will Bless you for your patience and endurance through everything you have been through. I also hope God will bring the right Doc into your life. My Thought and Prayers are with you Sherry.
I'm waiting on Insurance approval and am speachless at all the complications you have had. I know we all run the risk of these complications. It scares me horrible. Hang in there Sherry. Something good has to break for you soon.
Sending Good thoughts, wishes and prayers,
Mary Salmon
