Topic: Anyone Else have a Aug 14 date???
Anyone else have a Aug 14 th for WLS at Hackensack University Medical Center. My surgeon is Dr Capella. Im looking to meet new friends and be able to go thru this WLS with a buddy. My BF, friends and family are very supportive but they cant really understand unless there going thru it. So anyone interested in becoming friend and helping one another let me know. I will help anyone anyway I can. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Topic: Got the Date and the Insurance Approval
I think my two year goal is finally going to be met! I started this route August of 2001! I just received my insurance approval (twenty-four hour turnaround!!) and am working my days down to August 18th. I can't believe I am almost there...almost to the winning side of losing! Wow...I almost can't believe that my dream is going to come true!!

I have been working on getting this surgery since last Oct. Actually got approval from insurance pretty quickly. I was originally scheduled for surgery June 27. Over 8 months after I attended my info meeting and started the process. Because I am so high risk (have a defibrillator and other medical probelems) my dr. wants another dr. to be in surgery with him. So I have been rescheduled. I cannot wait.

Oh Tina CONGRATULATIONS!! I can only imagine how frustrated you must have been when you were first denied your surgery... Its so wonderful that there are SO many around to assist in appeals!!! 
Way to go!!! Now a thin and FLAT tummy Tina soon on its way!!! Hope you have a great time at the family reunion!

I got my new date. Aug. 19. Seems so far away since I was originally June 27. But at least I have got it.

Jacque... I am very close to getting my date as well... I understand your excitment and fear!!! I'm sorry to hear about your job... but from all the friends I have who are now post-op... All the negative stuff is soon behind you... Your right with the WLS Birthday... from what I hear... the adventure of the second part of your life is soon to start. Please feel free to chat anytime!! I'm here for a listening ear or kind word. Keep you head up!

Topic: August 11, 2003 is my (WLS) Birthday!!!
Dr. Skenderis will be doing my surgery on 8/11/03 (I have to be at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. EST) at Virginia Beach General Hospital in, of course, Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I think I am more excited than scared. I do not have any immediate family here (they are all in Texas) other than my husband of 13 years and my son who is 16 years old. I was fired from my job after I could not return to work in 12 weeks after having major back surgery (a double fusion in my lumbar spine) so I don't have any co-workers to support me (although 3 of my former co-workers have had WLS in the past year - they cannot help me for fear of losing their jobs if they have contact with me - why I have absolutely NO idea). I really only have one close friend who is being very supportive, although she has never had a weight problem so she doesn't really have a true concept of what I am going through. I could really use a lot of support, information (especially nutritional information) and prayers.
