I had my 1 year anniversary on August 25, 2004. I have had a really easy time of it I think as far as my Gastric Bypass Surgery is concerned. I am down to 132 lbs from a high of 260. Have gone from a size 24 to a 4. I had a tummy tuck and a thigh lift on October 18 o I a exactly 8 weeks postop today. I highly recommend a tummy tuck. My stomach looks amazing and is so flat and tight. I do not recommend the thigh lift unless you really have a lot of excess skin. It has been far harder to recover from and the results are not near as dramatic. It is so amazing to have people tell you that you are too thin and to be able to wear such tiny clothes. It really changes your life dramatically. I have been competely healthy through this process with no problems to report. I have been very, very lucky. Just wore a clingy red party dress to a Christmas party. Nice to have the dress clinging to hip bones instead of a tummy roll!!

Haven't posted in a while. I have been extremely hard on myself lately as my eating is out of control and I think that I am ruining this opportunity. Those of you this far out, can you tell me what you typically eat in a day? This is the average for me at 16 months out: Breakfast: yogurt or half an English muffin or half a muffin Lunch: a Lean Cuisine and some veggies or a Lean Pocket and Veggies w/some fruit Snacks during day: pretzels, Fat Free Pringles, or dry cereal Dinner: beef or chicken, a starch like brown rice or potatoes, and a veg After dinner is my worst time. I can eat 3-4 Twizzler's, some FF ice cream, some baked tortilla chips, you name it. When I go to a party, I always have some cake and dessert. I haven't lost anything in about 2 months, but have not gained any weight. Can you tell me if you're still losing and what you are doing? I do not exercise besides doing the stairs at work and walking three blocks to my car when it isn't too cold out. Thanks for reading and for your responses... PS Started as a size 24 266 lbs. and am now a size 10 147 lbs. I want to lose AT LEAST another 15 lbs.

I've been away for awhile and now have a new computer and connection to DSL - wahooie! I weigh 129 pounds currently. I continue to lose and am starting to add back all foods in moderation. So far the only thing that continues off limits is broccoli and pineapple. The first due to a horrendous experience with broccoli in my newly formed gut and the second because I've heard that I should stay away from it and don't want any incident like the broccoli incident ever again! My skin issues are in my thighs where I had always carried my weight. Pretty ugly stuff there. But fortunately everywhere else looks pretty good considering I'm almost 50 and have had two children. I went to the plastic surgeon and he told me everything I wanted to know about a medial thigh lift and gave me a good price - $4900 for it. But then, wouldn't you know it, my youngest daughter announced that she's engaged and wanting a formal church wedding. So guess where the money is going. There is next year or the year after though! The plastic surgeon did say that he would want me at a stable weight before surgery - 5-8 pounds up or down won't matter but more than that will make a difference in his work. I can't wait to have the thigh lift! My health is excellent since the surgery - I do have to take extra supplements --iron and B12. Was having to take extra folic acid for a while but no longer. As part of my long-range health plan, I am beginning to jog and I continue my much loved yoga. My husband is 100% OK with how I look now and has asked that I stop with the surgeries. From his perspective it is hellish to sit in a waiting room wondering how things are going for me - will I live or die? He said he doesn't care about the extra skin - he just wants me to be satisfied with myself as I am now. SO I'm working on that too. Big order to fill though after a lifetime of struggling with my self identity being tied to obesity. Best of everything in your life's journey, Ro
