Judy, first of all, congratulations on getting a surgery date. You do need to tell your employer that you need and say NEED to have surgery. They do not need nor are they entitled to know what you are having done. Explain to them that it is essential that you have this surgery, your health depends upon it. It's all true. There are HIPPA regulations set up by the federal government that prohibits anyone from knowing your medical facts unnecessarily. Unless you care to share with them what you are having done you do not need to tell them. Are you having Lap or Open. If you are having lap you may only be out of work a week or two. Open is usually 6-8 weeks depending on what you do for a living. I hope and pray all goes well for you in the employment situation and also with the surgery. May surgery date is August 6th. I hear a lot of people talking about getting plastic surgery for tummy tucks etc. and I was wondering how in the world you go about getting that approved by your ins. if it would be a cosmetic type of surgery? What do you tie into this surgery to get it approved? I already had my gallbladder out so that won't work. Hopefully I won't have to have any additional surgeries but just in case....

Congrats Kristi! I am also having my surgery on August 5th. I will be saying a prayer for you. Will check with you after surgery and see you on the losing side. I am having trouble with patience as well. Something I have never had either. God Bless and may he grant us both with a ton of patience!!
