A new kind of gas?
Hi All,
Congratulations on becoming 1 year. I join you on Aug 25th. Sure are a lot of changes in the last year. One sort of weird one is a new very loud gas...I think. Does anyone else get a rumbly tummy after eating? And is it loud? I mean people comment kinda loud. I seem to get it worst after any starchy carbs.
I've done well; am within 40 lbs of goal! Was freaked when I realized that I wasn't going to make goal within the year, then, decided there were way to many other things to do in life then to worry about will I make goal before my year anniversary gets here. Progress is small steps.

Brynne,
You and I have the same re-birthday! and like you, I'm not quite to goal. But I agree with you, we shouldn't beat ourselves up for it, we've come a long way in a short time. Celebrate what we have accomplished.
And about the new noises......I too can make funny music, depending on what I eat too...and it always seems to sing at the most embarrassing moments - like during meetings, or when the room is quiet.
But even with that, WLS has been the best thing I've ever done for myself,it saved my life, or should I say GAVE me a life
Congrats on your 1st. yr. Happy Re-Birthday,
Hope everthing else is just peachy for you.
Hilda
It's the carbs - they start digesting in spit (in mouth), so that when the hit your gut, they start to be absorbed. This causes a flood of gastric juices to be released.
Protein and low carb veggies need to be digested in the stomach . . . we don't do that, so the gut doesn't "see" them, at least not before the Y connection. If at all.
When you're concerned about being quiet, stay outta the carbs. You'll produce less *music and flowers*.
Oh, BTW, I'm also 5'10", and it took me 1.5 years to lose 150. Getting to goal in 1 year is not anything to worry about.
Hi,
Thanks for the response. It was nice to hear from someone after such a long time. I wrote that posting in 2004. I tend to leave the starchy carbs alone and the noise miraculously went away! I am now 3 years out and lost 120 lbs. Would really like to lose another 20 lbs to get to my own goal, but if this is it, then I am in heaven. I workout a lot and mostly eat right. The journey itself has been a really wonderful experience.
Thanks again for reminding me that I have a community here that I need to check on more often.
