Hi All, Found this site tonight. Very glad that I did. I've been looking for a place to ask, how much do you share with people when they comment on your weight-loss? Do you tell everyone everything or do you edit? I realized that I really haven't told anyone outside my family and closest friends. Figured I would be tramatized enough. I could get to it later. You know one step at a time. Now here in NYC where I live the weather is getting nicer. And I realized that jackets and sweaters will be coming off soon. I haven't really thought about reactions. Now, I'm not frantic just curious. I'm also 6 months out and seem to have only lost 1 lbs. this month. Y'all have certainly reasured me. I was beginning to believe that it was all over. I had lost all that I was gonna lose. I know, don't have much faith huh? Well lets face it I've been disappointed before. But reading your posts lead me to believe that I'm right where I'm supposed to be. Thanks for reading, Brynne August 25 Lap Gastric RNY down 83 lbs.

Down 83 pounds is nothing to be sad about! That's awesome! It is great when people start noticing but a little embarrassing too! I had the lap band and love it so I tell everyone about it when they ask. I do have friends that have been banded and aren't comfortable saying that they had WLS...so they just tell them the truth... they are eating less and exercising! Good enough and it's the truth! Hang in there! You are doing great! Plateaus just suck, but I think it is our body catching up with the weight lost! Did you take your measurements, you've probably lost a few more inches! Spring is coming! Tash 274/211/160 banded 8/11/03

Brynne, I tell people that I follow an Atkins diet and that I am working out. I told a couple of people when they asked and I did not like the "Oh, you took the easy way out" response. No one knows what it is like to walk in my shoes and the shoes of the other courages people who took a 1 in 200 shot in trying to be healther. I am happier now when I look in the mirror and that is the only response that I need. Good luck and congratulations.

Hi, Thanks to everyone for the responses. I guess I just have been feeling a little embarassed by a subject that's very personal. People I barely know want to talk about how much weight I've lost. (Usually say "a bunch"). And its true I also have received the "Oh you took the easy way out responses from 2 dear friends. So, I guess for now I'm gonna play it close to the chest. Also, started running. That's a great excuse. Have a great Day!!
