I have a question for you all ... I had surgery on August 19 2003. I have only lost 67 pounds and I am wondering if this is normal? Can you guys give me an idea of what you eat on a normal day so I know that I am doing this right! Tina

I've also lost 120 lbs since my surgery. You are doing great. Even with this surgery, everyone looses at a different pace.

Wow, you can hold a lot down. I probably eat about 2/3 of that. Maybe I am eating too little because I've only lost 61 pounds in 18 weeks. My starting weight was 266.6.

Just a question james, How far out are you from your surgery that you can get all of that down in a sitting. I am out 5 months and only have 30 lbs to go but I takes me 4 hours(literally) to eat half a container of a small chili. I can't get harldy any meat down yet--red meat is a big no no with me! I think it's fab that you can eat that and still lose--just curious. (isn't it odd that we now think of a piece of toast or a chili with 2 pitiful crackers a lot now????? I still can't get used to that!))) Steph

Tina you are doing great! We all lose at a different pace. You may not be eating enough...I pleateaued for two months due to my body going into starvation mode, and didnt lose a ounce. Once I started eating every three hours and walking the pounds began to drop. Doc said it had something to do with metabolism. But here is an example of one of my days: *Everyday I ALWAYS eat three fruits and a yogurt with grapenut cereal (at first I had to force the fruits down so just eat what you can). Thats four meals right there. *At least one protein shake 1/2 cup or so of cereal with skim milk Baked potatoe with cheese and salad(or whatever my family is having for dinner) The only problem I seem to be having with this is that I do not have time to get my fluids in..but its worked for me to increase my metabolism, im down 87 pounds since 8/14(Lap/RNY)...Good Luck!

I am down 55 lbs. I don't like food to much though. I eat this stuff daily Cheese I am guessing (3 pice's a day) Chicken noddle soup (I know bad) I love veg soup (I know no protein) And sometimes I will have a protein shake. I need to get more protein in. I just can't seem to do it. I bought some tastless whey protein from GNC and boy did I wast 26.oo bucks this stuff so so so so so NOT tastless. In fact it is KING of NOT Tastless. It is the worst stuff I have tried by far. If any one out there has a clue on getting in protein let me in on it please. I real dont' like meats yet either so I have to find something. DonnaRoby 225-170-130sh

Thank you all for your emails! I feel much better to know that there are people out there to help me. I am now down 71.5 pounds so I guess whatever I am doing is right. I guess I just wanted to go into surgery and wake up skinny As long as I am losing I will just keep trying my best everyday.

I would like to add my response to this question; it is true that as a female when your body senses "starvation" it hordes any and all calories as fat; this was due to when we first set foot "upright" on the planet we had to roam for food from place to place; males burned the food as "hunter gathers" females had to maintain ability to procreate hence the storing of calories; even compounding the increase of excercise may not accelerate your weight loss; the good news as others have stated these times were it appears your loss has "stalled" will pass; the most important thing is KEEP ON FOCUS; eat the balanced meals, chew S-L-O-W-L-Y, dring at least 64 oz of water; have PROTEIN at every meal; keep a positive attitude that hey "I'm over 5 months out and I'm getting this fat business way behind me; look out world "I got me a whole NEW ATTITUDE" I saw your picture you got a real pretty smile so show folks that chamionship smile and that NEW ATTITUDE Now keep up the good work Your getting there We (all of us AUGUST SURGERIES)are pulling for ya
