I am almost 5 months post-op and have lost 82 pounds, which is great. But, I have significant hair loss...or to be more precise..none! My hair has been falling out for the past 2 months, recently I woke up to a a pillow full of hair and more falling out as I was eating., I looked like a chemo patient. I know my hair isnt my life and it will come back at some point, but its very depressing. I am a military spouse, my husband is in Iraq, I am alone and I am bald ! What else can possibly happen to me! I eat my protein and take my vitamins, what else is there to do, and why is it falling out so significantly?

Jadyn, You need to call your dr right away and have them do a major blood work-up. My surgeon told me that I need to have between 60-80 mg of Protein daily which is very hard to keep up with. I am also having a little hair loss, not as much as yours but it does worry me. Everthing I eat and drink is chosen due to how much protein it has. Good luck to you.

My sister owns a salon and has given me some protein spray to use on my hair. I am 4-1/2 months out and have lost 90 lbs. and very little hair loss, but I drink protein drinks when I don't feel my intake has been adequate.

HI. Don't fret. I was in the same shoes, I got a short cut, and that helped out a lot plus I drank an extra protein shake per day, and boy has it slowed up. sometimes very little. I can really tell the difference. Don't worry. You will be fine. I can stand losing my hair for a loss of 66 lbs thus far. Good Luck

Hi Jadyn. I just read your post and was wondering how the hair loss is going. I too am losing mine bad. I keep finding it everywhere! When I wa**** it leaves a big "wad" in the drain, and stops it up. I like the remark a lady posted before. She said it looked like a small animal was in her drain! Ha, Ha! No matter how much I bru**** or run my finger through it it keeps coming out constantly. It's very discouraging, but I knew it was going to happen. I have cut mine shorter (a little longer than chin length) and it feels better. I read on this message board last year that hair growth and loss goes in 3 month cycles, so if that's true there is hope soon that it it will go from loss to growing. Cross your fingers and say a little prayer cause I sure am! For both of us!!! Keep your chin up and let me know how it's going. Your "thinning" friend, Cathy
