I am finally losing.

I had a lap rou-en-y on 8-19-03. I lost 10 lbs the first week. I only lost 1 lb the second week. I was becoming very frustrated. Well I am now a little over 3 weeks out and I have lost 23lbs. I am walking 1 mile a day. For breakfast I have 1/4th cup of 100% orange juice with 2 scoops of beneprotein in it. I then have two small meals the rest of the day. I have not been snacking in between at all. Since doing this I am really seeing a difference. I am so happy I had this surgery. Jennifer

Congratulations, Jennifer! That is great. I feel like such a pig compaired to you. My surgeon requires us to eat 6 small meals a day. I usually force myself to eat 5. If I drop below 5 I am in trouble. I wish I knew why surgeons don't require all Gastric By-Pass patients to eat the same amounts. It would make life so much easier...lol. Take Care, Maria

How is it going now Jennifer? I went through a lull in my loosing week 3 and week 4 I had very small losses.. but there are weeks when you just don't loose.. in the end it all comes together... keep walking and getting in your protein.. those are the BIG keys!

Thanks for the replys. I am now 8 weeks out and down 46 lbs!!! I am still having the OJ with beneprotein for breakfast and then the 2 meals. I have also been staying away from carbs. Luckily sugars make me sick so I am not even remotely tempted to try them. I am also walking 3 miles a day and also lifting weights for 1/2 an hour. I recently incorporated 8 Minute Abs into my excercise routine. I feel so good and have so much energy. I am hoping the excercise will help eliminate loose skin.

Im going through the same thing. Ive lost 33 lbs since surgery(Mine was 8/19/03 too). But Im only losing about a pound a week since if even that. I too am eating only 1/4 cup of food at a time, no snacks and walk 30 minutes a day on my lunch hour. Im very frustrated. I thought it would come off faster. Im not doing the protien shakes because my doctor doesnt recommend them, I could really use some advice too.
