Hi I am 10 months post laprascopic roux en -y had my surgery 8/19/02 and I have lost 124 lbs with just 6 lbs to the goal that I wrote down before surgery which seemed an impossible goal. I am wearing size 6/8 clothes and just love to shop! life is wonderful and I am really happy but I am getting too comfortable with my food and occasionally eat the wrong foods...so need to get back on track so that I can lose those last 6 lbs..even though everone says that I have lost enough!Hope all you other August 2002 bypass buddies are doing well.

Hi Everyone! My name is Krissy Jordan and I had my surgery on August 29th, 2002 (I was 17, now 18). My original date was set for August 9th, then rescheduled for August 20th, then finally happened on August 29th. My journey was very difficult in the beginning. I had several complications, one of which needed surgery, another needing an invasive procedure, and extended my hospital stay by two weeks. I'm having some "undiagnosable" health problems, and we're not sure if it's related to the surgery. However, even after going through it all, I'd still do it in a heartbeat. I've lost 122 pounds and have about 8-13 more until goal.

Hi Teresa, I am Mickie Thomason. I had Lap RNY Aug 2, 2002. I am 5'2 and started at a weight of 286 & BMI of 52 & clothing sizes were 28 & 30. Today I weigh 160 lbs. Clothing sizes 12 & 14. Never thought I would see those numbers. As far as the surgery, this has been the best year. I feel wonderful & light on my feet. Hardly no sickness or dumping. I eat normally, just cooking it a different way. If I want something sweet I eat a cookie or what ever I want but it does sometimes makes me sick. I still enjoy my food and look forward to my meals. So glad to hear you are doing well also. Congratulations Mickie 286/160/135

I had my surgery on 8/9/02. I have lost a total of 120 pounds and I am so grateful to God for showing me the way with WLS. I am so glad that I made the decision to have the surgery instead of listening to all my friends negativity. I am having a little trouble the past few months because I am eating more and also craving more junk. Before, I would never touch any sweets but lately I have been taking chances. I am afraid I am falling back to my destructive way of life and it does scare me quite a bit. If anyone has any advice, I am open to it. Thanks and God Bless You! Teresa Arnold

Karen, You have done great! I am so happy for you. I had my surgery on 8/9/02 and have lost 120 pounds. I haven't lost anything the past few months but I know it is my fault. I have been eating more and eating junk and sweets. I am really afraid I am going to gain my weight back. I still need to lose at least 75 more pounds. I really don't know what to do to get back on track. Any suggesstions? Thanks, Teresa Arnold

Topic: Almost a Year?!
HI, I cant believe its been almost a year. I had surgery on Aug 30th and as of last week was down 131 lbs BUT, went in to have emergency Gall Bladder surgery on thursday, and gained 10 lbs in the hospital. I AM NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I am hoping it is all fluid and will go away as quickly as it appeared. I am in size 12's and 14's now, and i hope to lose another 40 lbs before it is all said and done. Good luck to you all! Rebekah

Hi Everyone! Yes, we're almost a year out, can you believe it?! Time absolutely FLIES right by now! Since my Lap RNY on August 30th, 2002, I have lost a total of 108 lbs. and have about 38 more to go. What a blessing it's been! I've been at a stand-still for some time but, I got back to basics today, with protein, water and exercise so, hopefully I can make that stubborn needle start moving again! It's been the most exciting and most rewarding thing I could have ever done for myself, since I am now participating in my life, instead of behaving like a spectator! I GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY AND THANKS FOR CHANGING MY LIFE! E-mail me if ya wanna talk and hugs to you all! ?
