Congratulations fellow August anniversary WLS members. I had my surgery on August 13, 2002 and I have lost 116 lbs and gained so much....(not lbs) I have gone from a size 24 pants to a size 10 ( I went shopping yesterday and was so surprised that I got into a 10). I am off all diabetes and blood pressure meds and have not used my sleep apnea machine since surgery! I am a new person. I have been at a stand still for about a month, but I have started snacking too much so I know what I need to do, I am 159 lbs now and want to go down to 140. It is incredible to think that I only need to lose 19 more lbs to my goal....all the years when I needed to lose 100+ lbs to get there. I thank God and Obesityhelp.com for my success. HANG IN THERE!! I know if I add more exercise and water and STOP snacking that I will get down to my goal, now I just need to do something about my excess skin.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL YOU LOSERS(WINNERS)!!!

P.S. I have not sent in a current photo, next on my TODO list!

Hello All:
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE APPROACHING THE ONE YEAR MARK!!!
I too had surgery open RNY August 21, 2002. I would have it again tomorrow!! I have lost 100 lbs. I am 5'8 and started at 265 pounds. I felt terrible with diabetes and hypertension. I was sick of the many medications I was taking. I had not energy and rarely wanted to leave home. My self esteem was low, I did not like how I looked. What a difference 10 months can make!!! I am so active my now. I workout 5-7 times per week. I am now a size 10 from 24. If I don't loose another pound I am truly happy with myself. I don't let the scale run my life any more. I weigh myself twice a month only. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself and is the most rewarding. I love when people don't recognize me. It happens all the time!!. I love being active with my children and being able to run and bike ride. I thank GOD for the changes in my life, my wonderful physician Dr. Jeffrey Berger, and this wonderful site. Please keep sharing your progress with others. It is such an encouragement. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as we all continue to live this abundant life and press for the mark. Take care all!!

Congratulations Sharon!!! I cried when I read your posting. I am so happy for you. I had my surgery 8/21/02 and I have lost 100 lbs. I started at 265, 5'8, size 24, I am now size 10, 166 lb. and I feel as if I am re-born. The surgery for me was a blessing and I am thrilled to see someone else feeling and doing so well. I love crossing my legs now!!!. I work out daily and love it. I will never go back. This feels so good. Take care of yourself. I wish you continued success and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Topic: RE: anyone out there losing more slowly?
I have the same problem. I had open RNY 8/26/02. Initially I was loosing 4-6 pounds a week. Now I am just over 10 months post-op and I do well to loose 1-2 pounds a month. I get frustrated about it but I am hoping it is normal. Funny thing is I get paranoid and think my stomach has stretched and that is why my weight loss has slowed down. I have lost 85 lbs. but was hoping to reach 100 by my one year anniversary date. I started out at 298.5 on a 5'8" large frame. I have a bad habit of comparing myself to others. I don't want this to have a negative impact on me but I have to admit it is scarry. I haven't come all this way for nothing. I do need reassurance. My husband is even concerned for me. I exercise 2-4 times a week and am trying hard to stick with the water and protein. Sometimes the protein thing is hard because I have to consume it in the source of food. I seem to have an aversion to the protein drinks. Can't seem to find one that I can stomach.

I had my surgery August 7, 2002. I have always felt that I would be the one that had the surgery and it would not work for me. I have lost about 70 lbs ..I started at 233. I hoped to be at the 100 mark by my anniverysary date but I'm not sure. I haven't stepped on a scale since April when the Dr. told me I was at 70lb lost. I'm walking about 2 miles every day. Still watching what I eat. Maybe I'm just an extremely slow looser! Frustrating as it is at least I'm not gaining.

Hello, I am almost 11 months post lap rny. I had my surgery August 5, 2002 and I can not believe that it is almost a year... I have lost 106 lbs. I started at 256lbs and am currently 150lbs. I am now losing very slowly and actually have been at a stand still for the past few weeks. I started a new job and haven't been going to the gym like I was, I think that is my problem and not eating real great either. I will be happy if I don't lose another pound but my goal is to get to 135lbs. I have went from a 22-24 to a size 8. I feel wonderful. Thank you GOD....
