Me too! Go****hought I was the only one this soon out, (2 yrs). I quickly dropped 130 pounds and was stable for a long time. Then recently I noticed my jeans were really tight. I gained almost 15 pounds! So I decided to do the whole eating right/exercising right thing. After two weeks of doing this, I weighed myself this morning. I didnt drop one pound! Then it hit me... I didnt measure! So I did that this morning. I dont have a before to compare it too, I'll have to wait. But I have a question on the whole weight gain thing.. If it takes anyone 3500 calories to gain a pound, and we still cant eat as much as a 'normal' person, and malabsorb on top of that, HOW can we gain weight so easily? ANyhow, here's to us 2 year posties re-losing! Annie

Hi Lisa.... I had my surgery on 08/08/01......Up until about 3 months ago.....I had lost close to 160lbs......as of now....I've gained about 15lbs...it just keeps creeping up on me. I didn't think I had changed my eating habits...but the weight goes up!! Do you have any idea how much the Geocaris Drs bypassed on you? I was thinking compared to others who had the surgery after me....they must of done something different compared to my surgery. Others seem to have lost a bunch more than me...It's quite depressing I tell ya.... Anyway....I'd love to hear what you eat on a daily basis and what exercises, vitamins you're taking.... You can email me [email protected]. Thanks! Heather

Ok folks: HELP! Any other 2 year post ops want to 'fess up about regaining , or am I REALLY the only one? I am so bummed and need a major pep talk. I was 219 this morning..up from 214...which was up from 206-208 ( I am 5'9) at xmastime. I am working ou****ching what I eat, etc. True, I DONT 'dump' very much at all, but I dont get this! What about the supposeldy malapsorptive properties of the RnY ???????? I am still so far from my goal of 180, I could cry. I can see going up by 2 or 3 pounds once in a while, b/c of pms, water weight, etc...........but I was STUNNED to see that I am almost 220 again. I mean, I was 215 only a WEEK ago! What gives?????? I do NOT want to be a failure at WLS!!!!!!!!!!!! Lisa in NY ( please email me privately if you wish at [email protected])

My first impression was surprise that he also has a weight problem. Also he has big hands. But none of my concerns mattered. He was wonderful. I have never received such care before. I last saw Dr. Sanderfer about 6 months ago. His office staff (PA) Frank Schnider, monitored my lab results very close. Whenever he found irregularities, they contacted me and instructed me. I have had some complications. My protein level has dropped so low that they fed me for 4 months by IV. It was called TPN therapy. To my surprise, it wasn't the worst that could have happened. I didn't have to miss any work. The IV was in a back pack that I wore (or kept near) for 18 hours a day. That time eventually was reduced to 8 hours a day, until finally 4 months later, my protein level got up to 3.5, which is considered the bottom of normal. My hair began to grow back (it thined) and I began to regain strength. I still have to monitor my protein level at least every 2 months, and take my vitamins, iron, etc. but I understood prior to surgery that these complications were possible. I am primarily impressed with the degree that I was monitored by Dr. Sanderfer and his staff. Also, he monitored me for an additional 6 months (without compensation) because, after my surgery in 8/2001, Dr. Sanderfer discontinued his relationship with my HMO. However he continued to monitor me diligently. My only concern with Dr. Sanderfer is that he did not remove my gallbladder at the time of my gastric bypass in 8/2001. Well in 4/2003 I had an emergency gallbladder removal. Dr. Sanderfer usually removes his patients gallbladder, however, he choose not to in my case, for whatever reason. So if you have 100+ pounds to loose, insist that your doctor removes your gallbladder.

Liza, I had surgery 8/7/01, and I have a beautiful 4 month old baby boy! It was hard watching the scales go in the other direction, but oh-so-worth it! Best of luck with your pregnancy! It's a truely miraculous experience!

Hi, I had surgery w/Dr. Valin and had lost a total of 152.5lbs. As of today 5/31/03, I have gained back 5lbs, but that is wonderful baby weight as I am now 10 weeks pregnant. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Muah!
