I have the same pre-op diet as KKM...Are you in Washington??  3-4 shakes and a frozen dinner (such as lean cuisine), total of 870 calories per day.  Works out fairly low carb and high protein.  I'm on day 10 now.  It has been fine since day 6, that was the turning point.  Getting nervous and excited for July 1st!!

Topic: RE: Any July surgery dates?

I have thought about writing letters also but I feel like I am setting myself up for disaster if I do. Today is my first day of my ALL liquid diet and it is not going so well. The hunger isn't bad, but I am trying to drink 3 protein shakes a day to help contain the hunger and so far the shakes are not good at all. I am going to try and get some different brands and try diff ways to prepare. This is going to be a long 2 weeks and I am really trying to stay positive but I seem to be losing myself.

I am sure that everything will go well for you, however, this entire situation is a VERY dramatic change and all aspects are a little scary. I wish you the best of luck.

I can have 3 protein shakes (I am drinking Premier Protein from Costco, 30 grams of protein each)  + a 380 calorie meal.  Frozen entrees like Smart Ones are what is suggested.  Or I can have 4 shakes + 230 calorie meal.  So far after day 1, the toughest part was not eating when cooking for my family.  I need to lose 10 pounds before surgery or else she won't do the surgery.  My protocol seems much easier to follow, than yours.  I have things pretty much laid out for me.  I hope this helps.

My VSG surgery is scheduled for July 9th.  Started the pre-op liquid + frozen entrée (smart ones, on sale even!) today.  Was not too bad.  I'm very excited to have the surgery and start a new chapter.  I have to lose at least 10 pounds for surgery to be done.

Hello My weight is 364 LBS..Highest was 373

.My surgery is scheduled for July 7th, 2014 and I am a little nervous.. I was scheduled for RNY but my Dr. said he may have to switch it once he starts surgery due to me having a stomach Hernia... I am nervous that I may have to have the Sleeve since I don't know much about it...I signed a consent form for both!!!

Started my all Liquid diet 3 days ago and seems to be doing ok... (hard but good)!!  I am determined to get some weight loss in before my surgery...

Tonight I sat down and wrote letters to my husband and daughter just in case I don't make it through the surgery????  You never know, not sure why I am feeling this way tonight, I am usually a very positive person..Is anyone experiencing these feelings???

My VSG surgery is scheduled for July 10th. Tomorrow I start my full liquid diet. I am trying to be very optimistic, however sometimes that is difficult. Hope you all are dealing well with your pre-surgical stuff.

Good idea on starting the new thread!  I am also on day 2 of the pre-op diet.  I'm curious about your guidelines for the diet.  What are your carb and protein limits?  Mine are 40 to 50 grams carbs and 70 to 100 grams protein.  No calorie limits although the protein and carb limits pretty much keep calories under control.  There are a few more specifics (i.e.. no caffeine - BUMMER!) but it looks like it's basically high protein, low carb.
