Nervous!!! And not loosing at all on the liquid diet!! Maybe 3lbs in 8 days!! Frustrated
Congrats!!! I will be having surgery on 7/30 and I hope I have great results also!! Keep me posted on how you are!
Hey Everyone! I wanted to check in and see how all the July sleevers, that have already had surgery, are doing. How are you pre-op peeps doing? I am on day 18 today. Feeling darn good overall. Back to work on day 16 and I've been pretty tired, which kind of surprised me because I hadn't been overly tired the last few days before coming back. I'm slowly learning about my new tummy and coming to the realization that it is in charge. I have had a few bouts of eating one or two bites too many. I have learned that I get a tight/pressured feeling in my chest when I am getting full. One or two bites after this feeling and I have gone too far and it is uncomfortable. The other night I thought I felt that feeling start and decided I would have one more bite because I only had one bite left in my dish. MISTAKE. I almost instantly was nauseous. I walked around hoping things would move down and start working their way through...no such luck. I threw up for the first time post-op. I instantly felt better. Lesson learned...listen to my body. I am hoping I don't have to learn that lesson many times before it sticks in my brain. I am down 35 pounds since 6/16 when I started my two week pre-op diet. I couldn't be happier with my results so far. It is truly amazing to not experience hunger like before. I look forward to this leg of my journey and continuing to work towards my goal. Best wishes and good luck everyone!
Im ten years out, there are so many little things i could tell you, but the best advise I can give you is to exercise. exercise. exercise. As soon as the Dr. clears you, exercise every day. There are days that i have to force myself to exercise, but i think it has helped me keep my weight off. I did not get down as far as my Dr. thinks I should have but I am healthy and I can hike mountains ( , chase my nephews, go to the lake/river with my kids etc,)Good Luck! P.S. I get tears in my eye when I am on the top of mountain, so happy that my body can do this. Find out what exercise you like, try different things. I also like boxing, hitting the speed bag. Mostly hiking. I seek out new ones and love every minute of it.
I have lost 115#'s. I had my surgery on January 20, 2004.
I am rather non-compliant so I'm def not the person to give advice. I was drinking broth so that helped w my salt craving even the reduced sodium was perfect. When I needed something to chew on, I would eat a few pieces of pre-packaged grilled chicken strips. I just stayed away from carbs. I lost more on the preop diet than I am post op. I lost 18 pounds on the preop and only lost 11 pounds post op and I've been in a stall since my first week.
Hi! I am scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks-- July 29 2014. I started my liquid diet and I am so hungry too. How much weight did you lose on the liquid diet in that 2 wk period? I am a bit nervous but have family support. The liquid dirt they have me on is 5 optifast shakes a day, sugar free jello, water, crystal light... But I crave something salty... Even broth would do it. Does anyone have any tips?
Exactly the same! Clear liquids tomorrow only, nervous as heck. Just hoping everything turns out all right. Good luck!!!
It went really really well. I had a good bit of soreness on my abdomen, more than expected, but with a small bit of pain medicine I'm already ready to start walking down the halls. The surgery took about an hour and 15 minutes and I was in recovery for about 45 min. And other than a few hours of being groggy, today has been really great!
How are you feeling? It's finally sinking in for me. I am excited and nervous!
