Early July Surgery date set

Heading to Mexico July 6th for VSG.  I'm early 50's, four grown children and a wonderful husband who are all behind me - feeling grateful.  I'd like to connect with others on a similar schedule to start this journey.  Feeling a mixed bag of excitement and apprehension like most do I'm sure.  

Congrats on getting your surgery date! I'm planning for surgery in mid-July myself. If everything works out, I'll be right behind you. I have completed all the steps that my insurance requires and will have my surgical consult in a couple of weeks. I'm starting to get excited, too. I suspect the apprehension will kick in once I have a surgery date. :-)

Just checking in to see if you have your date set yet?  I am 3 weeks away from mine.  Yikes!  Nervous and excited but overall feeling ready to move forward.

Not yet. I meet my surgeon tomorrow afternoon, then we submit the request to insurance and set a date. Everyone I'm working with seems confident that a July surgery date is possible, but it seems like we're getting down to the wire. I'm not too worried. An August VSG would be just as effective, although a July VSG is much more convenient for my schedule (I have kids in school). I guess we'll find out either way soon enough. 

Your surgery is coming up fast! Do you have a pre-op diet? When does that start?

Yes I have a pre-op liquid diet and it starts one week from today.  This is getting kind of real - real fast!  Ha!

I met my surgeon today. I feel really comfortable with him and like the precautions he takes to avoid complications. The only downside is that a July surgery is probably out for me. I spoke with his secretary who handles the ins authorizations and scheduling and I probably have a least a month to wait before I have my surgery date. So in the meantime, I'll keep meeting with the dietician and practice being patient. :-)

It is TOTALLY getting real! My surgery is July 10th with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico! My liquid diet is 2 weeks and starts next Thursday. NEXT THURSDAY!!!!!!! How did that come up so fast! Excited and apprehensive all at the same time. SO helpful to have OH to read and find inspiration.

I am scheduled for July 1st!  Hooray for us!  I am 43 with a 6 year old.  I have wonderful family support, thank goodness.  I excited, yet terrified, to start the next leg of this journey.  I would love to stay connect and support each other.
