I was sooooo excited when I finally hit 299!  Just to be able to say "now I'm in the 200's..."

My rouxeny surgery was July 26.  The weight loss is going pretty good!  My starting weight was 408 lbs., and yesterday I weighed in at 277 lbs.  I still suffer from severe pain in my hips/back/tailbone, but I can still see a difference in energy level at least.  Because of the surgery I cannot take the medication that I once relied on for pain management (Cymbalta), so I have been trying to deal with it the best I can.

Back in February I stopped losing weight for about three weeks and realized that I had let sweets back in my life.  Once I realized that and took control of it, the weight loss began again.

I wasn't sure how my body would shape up after losing weight (and being overweight all my life).  My legs, arms, and face seem to be shaping okay.  However, my torso...not so much.  I have hanging fat/skin.  I still have a ways to go, though, with my weight loss journey, so we'll see how it turns out.

I missed my last check-up with my surgeon several months ago.  I will be going next week to catch up with that.

I'm glad to see you all are doing well with your weight loss too.  It's very encouraging!

You both are doing fantastic... and yea my weight loss has slowed a LOT... lol and I can eat just about anything but sweets (too much of them)  and Ice cream unless very small and very little is a no go.  I exercise 4 to 5 days a week cardio and 2 days a week weights and 2 days off... I get about 1200 or so calories a day and have been for probably 4 months.  :)

Great job you two and keep it up :)

You are both doing great. I too am now at 8 months and down 101 pounds!!  my weight loss has slowed tremendously the past few months but i'm able to eat most anything now.  Testing the waters wasnt a good idea...so now it's trying to get back on track and stay with the healthy foods and really start exercising.  i still have another 40 pounds to go and would love to get there before my one year anniversary!

Oh my goodness!!!  You're doing awesome!!!  From my heaviest, I've lost 96 pounds.  I feel as though my weight loss is going a lot more slowly than others.  Sometimes I think I'm paranoid about my weight loss.  Just this morning my scale showed 299!!!!!  I can't tell you when I was at 2xx....so that makes me feel good.  As long as my scale continues to decrease, I am happy.

Hi there,

It's a little over 8 months post-op and I was wondering how everyone is doing?  Has the weight loss slowed any? Mine has definitely lol but I am 104 lbs. down from my heaviest so I am happy.  I am now 160 and I am hoping to get to 158 soon so I can just be considered overweight and not obese :)

I love the sleeve... I had surgery on July 11th & I feel great! my start weight was 298lbs and am down 88 lbs. It seems like I snack a lot throughout the day which may be slowing the loss somewhat but my body seems to be adjusting well to all of its changes. I Just started zumba a couple of weeks ago and love the workout,  I'm self conscious about loose skin so I purchased body shaper leggings to wear under my yoga pants so my legs don't wiggle uncontrollably -Ha, Ha it really helps.

Topic: RE: 6 months out! How's your progress?
Well I had a different procedure than you, so things will be different as far as what I can eat.  Due to the malabsorbtion of my DS, I need to eat fat.  My diet mostly consists of high fat, high protein, low carb...and I really do not count calories.  I do have some friends that have the VSG like you though, so I am familiar with the diet.  I know you have to eat more low fat, low carb (sugar), high protein...and watch calories.

I do feel hungry at times, but I think it is more "head hunger" instead of me really being hungry...even though my stomach rumbles so loudly I swear there is a creature trying to scratch it's way out!  lol  I have to eat every 2 to 3 hours and I can only eat between 1/2 to 1 cup at a time...but it honestly greatly depends on what I am eating.  If I am eating something solid, like a piece of chicken, I can only eat about a 1/2 cup.  If I am eating something soft, like a soup or protein shake, I tend to be able to eat 1 cup.  I do struggle with the sugar too...but I try to eat protein first then if I have room for anything "bad" I may only have a bite or 2 because there isn't room for more.  The recent holidays were a huge struggle!

I've been going through the stalls too.  I will go several weeks and not lose a pound, then boom lose like 5 pounds!  It does get frustrating.

Its been a wild ride for me also. I've lost 69lbs so far and I am very pleased with myself but i do find that I still get VERY hungry. I can't eat as much but the hunger is there. How much food are you able to eat 1 cup or are you all at 1/2 cup whats the norm ? I need to get back on track low surger, fat, ect. I have also been yo-yoing I will stop losing any weight and about a month later all of a sudden 2 lbs will come off. But I must say I do love my new life. It's only been 6 months the loose skin is bad but for me right now at this point its one step at a time.

It's been a wild ride for me!  I hate the scale and prefer to measure inches at this point.  I'm wearing size 10 pants and medium shirts.  I've been yo-yoing for the past month with the same 10 pounds.  I just can't wait to get to goal...which at this point I no longer know what that is.  I'm thrilled over so many things my WLS has given me, but I really do hate all the loose skin.  I had more confidence at 300+ pounds than I do now.  When I was heavier, I was often an outspoken b*tch...now I tend to be on the shy side.  I think I used my weight as a form of protection before and now I have nothing to hide behind.

What are your thoughts?
